What's interesting and a little bit terrifying is that the Freedom Caucus has more or less rejected Trump because he isn't radical enough for them (e.g., Trump supported McCarthy's speaker bid, but the Freedom Caucus ignored him). Nothing good will come from some of the promises some members of the Freedom Caucus have made (for example, the promise that the debt ceiling won't be raised).

If the Freedom Caucus follows through on all their promises and threats, then the result will be two years of political turmoil, which will likely result in a Democrat President, House, and Senate being elected in 2024.

They rejected Trump's support because it wasn't genuine. McCarthy not only backed Russia-gate but blamed 1/6 on Trump. I think you would agree that Trump has no principles and would have never supported McCarthy (in fact, likely would have outright attacked him) had they not made amends (perhaps some backroom deal they made during their Mar-a-Lago meeting) prior to Trump's support.
