  • House Speaker?

McCarthy support seems to be shrinking. 4th vote?

Idiots, they can't assign committees until this is done - so much for coming out of the gate running...

I can't help but compare McCarthy wanting to keep on going, no matter what, with the recently deceased Benedict XVI who stepped aside for what he believed was best for the RCC.

I'm always still in trouble again

He has been waiting 15 years for this. But to be honest I don't there is any one else who could get the required votes, or come close.

I'd bet a Democrat will get the gavel thanks to the incompetency of the GOP.

That's been the threat used to elect various not too popular Speakers by Republicans in the past. I don't see it as an outcome.

                      They should make Trump speaker.

What I find amusing is how desperate McCarthy is for the speakership. Apparently the day after the election, before it was actually at all clear that Republicans had won a House majority, McCarthy ordered his staff to start calling him Mr Speaker!! This week he moved himself into the Speaker's office before he was elected to the position. His desperation for the position is impressive and sad.

On another forum, I saw someone suggest that people should force them to do it like a papal conclave and take away all their electronic communications and lock them in with no contact with the outside world and no ability to leave until they choose a speaker. That would probably get it taken care of pretty quickly.

Maybe they could compromise on Tucker Carlson as speaker?
