2) You'd have to PROVE that because
c) The burden of proof rests on the prosecution in such a case
You cannot defend lawlessness on this scale by pleas to self defense.
The first to state his case seems right until another comes and cross-examines him.

But I suspect that if there is a guilty verdict, that there plenty of "mistakes" that the prosecution made throughout the trial to warrant an appeal if not a mistrial.

Basically the argument the defense is making is that if the prosecution had given them a clearer copy of the video, then they would have addressed it in their defense, but because their copy was so blurry they didn't think it was credible or important. So that means the jury didn't hear both sides equally. If they come back not guilty then it doesn't matter. But if they use that video to return a guilty verdict then it does matter because the defense didn't have the opportunity to present a vigorous defense against the prosecution's claims.

Anyone care to guess which one is a convicted felon career criminal who was illegally
carrying a firearm but the MSM studiously ignores?

Just have to make a quick correction here, it was widely reported early on that - Grosskreutz was a felon but it it turns out he has no felony record (he does have a record, but they are misdemeanors). He was, however, there is there concealed carrying a gun with an expired concealed carry license which made his action in carrying it concealed, illegal
