I've only had ONE TIME where somebody was so proud that they blew up and quit the church when we tried to help them with a very serious financial matter.The first to state his case seems right until another comes and cross-examines him.

It's really all about common sense, and NOT about legalism. If you really care about the person, you kinda pick up on how you can help, or how to channel help their way. I often say, "I know you'll be in a better position to help somebody else" or something like that.
