So, you guys would rather this stuff never enter the history books? Or that we all pretend that the US didn't do these things, or that we pretend that water-boarding is a useful interrogation technique, and that these techniques were actually justified?

The reports states unsurprisingly that at least two of the 119 detainees were held there wrongfully based solely on testimony extracted using the 'enhanced interrogation techniques'.

A full 29 prisoners were held there wrongfully, which amounts to roughly a fourth.

It's already IN the history books.

That's just goofy --- who doesn't already KNOW this stuff? It's a ONE SIDED political hack job that will only incite more violence.

So let's assume for a minute the report is completely biased. Do you think the US has in the past, or is now, using torture and unlawful detention? If it has been, what should be done about it?

                  Entirely possible.

The powers that be should shut their mouths and work on this like adults behind closed doors and fix the problem instead of playing deadly political football with it.

How about the rule of law? Should justice be seen to be done? Should people who broke the law face prosecution?

It is not necessary for biased reports to be published in order for that to happen.

What pressure is there on lawmakers to pursue justice if lawbreakers' misdeeds are held secret?

We have a position called Attorney General of the United States -- if he can take a break from fanning the flames of racial unrest, he might be able to focus on the problem. We also have a President of the United States who has a pen and a phone. They generally work pretty well together, for good or for bad.

So you believe some crimes need to be shouted from the rooftops while others are dealt with in secret?

Yikes that was a lot of acid.

So far you've repeated that its one-sided, but I haven't heard you list much if any problems with it. Do you have access to alternative evidence of an equal or greater strength that support something other than what I've said. I'm reading the articles seer linked to, I don't mind reading something you have to share.
