I'm anything but liberal, but I've studied this issue while working on my degree. The liberals overstate their case, and are usually wrongheaded about the solutions they want to impose, but that doesn't mean our culture doesn't celebrate violence. I say this...as an avid video gamer and action movie lover. I've read enough studies to be concerned about the issue, whereas I previously stood closer to your viewpoint.

The scope of the issue and the exact degree of influence are subject to much debate, of course...but I'll go ahead and assume since you said "overblown" and not "fabricated" that you acknowledge the culture of violence does exist.

I was merely trying to point out that if we want to reduce the rate at which Americans kill each other, we'd be better off focusing on people and not guns.

It's overblown in the sense that we don't need blanket solutions because it's not a blanket problem, nor does it cut evenly across all demographics.
