There was nobody behind him, Jimmy. And look how confused he is after he's grabbed by the arm and brought back to reality. His face says, "I don't even know where I am right now," followed by putting on his sunglasses so slowly, the first time I saw it, I thought the video was in slow motion.

As one political observer has put it, "Joe may not have lost all of his marbles, but there is clearly a large hole in the bag."

There's nothing deceptive about it. Even in your link, you can see Marcon's confused gestures towards Jill and Joe before rushing over to shake hands with the guests who were waiting to be greeted. He clearly wasn't expecting the Bidens to make an immediate exit stage right the second the ceremony was over. It seems he was unaware that they had *ahem* other matters to attend to.

Biden has a history of talking to folks who aren't there. He did so recently while talking to a group of wounded vets. He turned his back on them, wandered away and kept talking while having his back to those he was supposed to be addressing. "Dr." Jill hurriedly rushes over and stands by his side, apparently hoping that the duffer will turn around on his own, but when that doesn't happen, she finally grabs him by the arm, turns him around and leads him back to the group he was supposed to be addressing.

That old Joe was once again lost in the fog is evidenced by how the rest of the G7 leaders kept moving closer to old Joe as he walked off, and the fact that the Italian PM had to go over and bring him back.

Then of course he has that habit of trying to shake hands with nonexistent people.

You should look at The TImes video of the event. Biden goes to sit down before Lloyd Austin's speech at about 4:16:30 (if he's doing a "fake chair" gag, it's a really good one), and goes to exit after the ceremony at about 4:52:30, after giving his own 16 minute speech (and if he pooped his pants beforehand, then it's the best speech he ever gave). It looks like Macron is expecting to follow the Bidens out, but gets called back by some of the veterans. Not something he could really refuse.
