Having read the thoughts of a US defence employee on this thread, and those of CP's big-birds, I wondered how general officers have commented on Trump's leadership.

Former Joint Chiefs Chairman General Mark Milley – who Trump recently suggested be executed – has called Trump a threat to democracy and the institution of the military.

OMB's remark about how "I like people who weren't captured" was tasteless at a bare minimum and help cement his reputation of being a rude and crude lout.

Of course McCain went on to hold a grudge and took it out on the entire country. For many years he claimed that if given a chance he'd repeal Obamacare. Again and again he repeated this. But when finally given a chance, when his vote would literally be the deciding vote, McCain revealed himself to be a two-faced liar. He refused to do what he said he'd do. Why? Spite. He didn't want OMB to be the one who got it repealed. So he took his bitterness out on the country. One of his last official acts before his death.

While he might have been a war hero, he certainly died a loser.

McCain was a two-faced vindictive turd. Yes, he was a war hero and Trump should not have been such an ass as to choose pretty much the only laudable thing about the little knob to denigrate.

I've never been a fan of McCain, but recognize his service to our country. Being the son of an Admiral his captors offered to release him but he refused to go and leave everyone else. As a result he was brutally tortured.

I'm reminded of what happened after Hitler's absolute control was assured, all of Germany's Communist and Liberal politicians (present) were rounded up, impertinent journalists disappeared, many military leaders were imprisoned.
It would probably be a very good idea for many people in the US to be thinking about their futures during these times............

Whereas OMB banned a reporter from White House press conferences, Obama banned an entire network from covering anything involving the Executive branch. They were banned from Pentagon, State Department, Justice Department... briefings.
