It's necessary to be able to engage their arguments on their own terms, and I happen to see this thread as a potential opportunity to develop and test out arguments. If we can't explain why this is more than just a taboo (i.e. have rational arguments about it), we make it easier for people to dismiss it as just that-- an irrational taboo.

That does not follow, intuitive moral outrage is just as valid as "rational" argument. For instance I have never come across a good rational argument against human to animal sex, yet my moral sense tells me that that is always immoral. No matter the rational arguments for or against.

Generally in those situations I don't find that rational arguments convince them either. It is almost impossible to argue ethics in logical terms. What for instance is illogical about what the Hutu majority did to the ruling class Tutsi minority? We are only left with moral distaste.
