Allowing new evidence and witnesses at the Senate trial has precident, so the question is why did the Senate block that evidence and those witnesses? I think you know why, though I also know that you'll never admit to it.

Voting to not remove him is serving their party.
Maybe as an after-effect, but it was still the right decision.

There was no such precedent or attempt at it. Trump was impeached for his actions, not is opinions.
No he wasn't. He was impeached because the Democrats witch hunted every angle they could, and this was the best they could offer, which amounted to bupkis.

        Trump sychophancy on full display.

Sorry, but there was never any evidence that the aid was withheld for "personal benefit" and a ton that it was withheld for national interests.

Yep, and all the Democrats had to do was convince a simple majority of Senators that they had enough of a case to continue the trial, but they couldn't even clear that low hurdle.

Really, I don't know why you're angry at the Republicans here when you should be angry at the Democrats for thoroughly botching what you seem to think was a slamdunk case.

No they didn't. There was never any evidence that Trump withheld aid for his own personal gain. It was all hearsay and "I heard from a guy who heard from a guy" witnesses. Not a single witness reported hearing anything directly from Trump that would implicate him in a crime.

In the end, the only thing Shifty and the gang proved is that Trump had a cordial phone call with the president of the Ukraine.

                        • None of this was proven with direct evidence. It was entirely based on idle supposition and "I heard from a guy who heard from a guy" office gossip. In fact, Gordon Sondland, the only witness on record who spoke directly with the President about the matter, testified that he was told emphatically and unambiguously that there was to be no quid pro quo.

No, it's just over your head I'm afraid. All the facts have been laid out before you many times over these past 4 years, but you, due to the cognitive dissonance stemming from your extreme bias, are never going to accept them. It has to be either that, a psychological problem, or you actually are an ignorant buffoon. I don't believe the latter to be the case, so I'm left with the assumption that you are suffering from the former. Although there is a third option which is that you're aware of the facts, you're aware of Trumps corruption, and you're simply fiegning ignorance because you're actually complicit with the corruption you defend. That option may very well be the more likely answer in your case.

Of course he was. He was impeached because of his use of the office to pressure a foreign power to attack an opponent.

America - too good to let the conservatives drag it back to 1950.
