Of course he would say that if only to make the Trump administration look bad, but is it necessarily true? And were they never forced to scrub a contingency plan for one reason or another, such as a foreign government being unable or unwilling to do its part to carry it out? We really have no way of knowing, but I have trouble believing that 8-years of travel planning for a US president were carried out flawlessly.

How does this story make it more likely the troops stay? Trump can still pull the troops out if he wants to.

Making it seem like Trump has disdain for the troops discredits any decisions he makes about the military. Obviously he faces push-back every time he wants to pull troops out of a military quagmire (Iraq, Afghanistan, Syria, etc.). With this allegation hanging over his head, folks can question whether or not he really has the military's best interest in mind or some other ulterior motive for the decision. The sky's the limit with what conspiracy theories the left and the military can throw at him for any decision he makes now.

Are you actually going to argue that a man that has open contempt for the sacrifices made by all who serve in the military, open contempt for their deaths, their bravery when being tortured in foreign prisons for fighting for our rights and freedems, has any right to be directing their actions, determining for what and when they will be putting themselves in harms way?

Is this comment meaningful if Trump in fact holds those in the military in the contempt that has been claimed?

We have enough public comments by Trump of a similar character for these claims to be plausible, especially his comments concerning John McCain, but not just John mcCain.

There are numerous confirmations of this or similar comments from current of former members of the military or Trump's staff, though many have chosen at this point to remain nameless.

Even Fox News (at least initially) confirmed the accuracy of the report.

We can expect nothing less than complete denial from Trump or those loyal to him. He lies all the time, there is no reason to take him or his loyal staff at their word on this.

So on the balance at this point, the probability is very, very high Trump did and said exactly what has been reported.

No, we have one clear cut instance of this with McCain, and that's the premise they're building this whole obvious charade off of. I definitely fault Trump for being petty with McCain, because now it's coming back to haunt him (and that's one of my biggest pet peeves against Trump is his petty idiocy that always ends up being a self-infliction).

It is telling because we can infer that the people who were with the President that day and haven't gone on record to debunk the claim are most likely the people who made the claim in the first place. If it was two high ranking Generals that made the claims, then the claims become much more credible.

There is absolutely no way Trump (or any American) would say dead American soldiers are losers and suckers. And especially wouldn't say it in front of generals.
