That's not fair. You should have listed at least one source like Breitbart so carpe could latch onto it and do his trademark dismissive wave.

Maybe we could run him down, then tie him to the bumper of my truck, then drag him to death to make him pay. Or maybe parade him through town, then march him up the steps to gallows in the town square. I personally want to bring back stocks, and place him in the town square so we can all pass by and torment him, followed by floggings.

While we are at it, we could do that to all the atheists, though we might have to use firing squads, there's just so darn many of 'em. But if we could get them to dig their own graves, it would save on fuel. We could get volunteers for the firing squads, maybe even get the high school band for entertainment. Make it a fine and wholesome picnic experience, fun for the whole family.

Either they are not following what Trump has recently been doing or they are totally dishonest.

            • How can I be missing my own point?

Oh right, I forgot who I'm talking to.

Severity and medical intervention depend a lot upon your age and health.

So right there tells me that your age is a good factor in your survival and hospitalization rate. One of the oldest countries, in the world, is finding itself overwhelmed by a disease that hurts the elderly, the worst. Imagine that.
Again. 35000 cases in a country of 60 million. Even if they were ALL elderly it is a drop in the bucket compared to what would happen in America with 30-60 MILLION cases. Hospital beds, staff and equipment don't magically multiply with the virus. It simply doesn't matter that Italy has x2 more old people per capita than the US when the number of cases is x1000 times larger.

Or you could just move your leg and avoid both.
Or you could stop making stupid analogies.

So if Newsom criticizes Trump, he's "politicizing a tragedy," but if he praises Trump then "he has nothing but praise for Trump? Interesting. Newsom has a history of putting the needs of his state first. This is a good breakdown of places in the past where he has put aside his criticism of the administration in the moment of dealing with crisis issues. I don't think you can leap from "trying to play nice" to "Trump is on top of everything."

As for Andrew Coumo, we are days away from these types of exchange. In the past few days, Trump is finally acknowledging that there is a problem, and beginning to do what he should have been doing weeks ago. I am not surprised that Cuomo is acknowledging this and giving positive feedback. But that is a recent change and does not erase the weeks of mismanagement.

Hey I made my point, and linked the references. And the fact is much of the problem is simply the fact that it is often difficult to get large bureaucracies to move quickly. That is why the President needed to invoke the Defense Production Act. But hey Carp, you hate Trump, if he cured cancer you would say that it took him to long. And Trump was not micro managing the CDC who dropped the ball on testing kits. That was not on Trump.

Those in the larger risk factors groups, should shelter and take special precautions while those who are not, should take standard precautions (unless the job requires us to work with the elderly). Shutting down the entire country, over a virus that statistically causes issues among the elderly while no major issues to those who are not, is like blowing your own leg off to stop a snake from biting it.

While I'm on the topic of correcting your many blunders, the virus IS dangerous to younger people too:

                            https://www.theverge.com/2020/3/17/2...d-severe-cases

It's more LETHAL to old people but 40% of those hospitalized are between 20-52. What will happen to them if there's no space, staff or equipment to take care of them?

There are 509 people hospitalized for the virus as of the referenced article. This was with 141 deaths and 9000 cases. This is about 6% hospitalized with about 1.5% mortality. So mortality *4 needs hospital care to survive. 20% (102) are below age 44. This is not just a disease that affects "older people"

But it does kill more older people. And the only way to stop the spread and keeping it from killing all those older people (10-15% of those 75 IIRC) is if we stop the spread of it. And the only way to stop the spread of something this contageous is to do what we are doing.

So what you are actually saying is that you are willing to kill 10% or more of the people in this country that are over 65 as a consequence of not taking these actions. And ~2% or more of the people 30 to 65.

That older population, the ones you are willing to subject to a 10% mortality rate to avoid this situation, is almost 50million people.

So what it boils down to is you are advocating to let 1 to 5 million people die.
