In fairness, this wasn't out of the blue - US ambassador to the UK, Woody Johnson, told the BBC's Marr programme that the United States would seek business access to the NHS as part of trade negotiations after Brexit.

It was in light of this and known US business interest in the health service that the question was asked to begin with

And how would that hurt the NHS? It would be up to the NHS if they wanted to do trade with the USA.

So the MSM took his comment and the fears of the UK people and ran with it, manufacturing a crisis where there was none.

So business as usual.
