I'd say that if conservative economic doctrines can't answer environmental problems, then that would be a very strong argument against conservative politics.
You guys can do more than just sticking your head in the sand, and shaking in your boots about supposed commies.
I've proposed several conservative ways to help with climate change. For example rolling back all the subsidies, and artifically law land rent and other things that the coal industry currently enjoy. That would put them on a much more level playing field with renewable energy and nuclear power for instance.

There is no question that the green movement (including the Global Warming movement) is deeply leftist and anti-capitalist. We see this as just another venue for ultimate political control. No matter the science the totalitarian impulse of the left gives us more than a little pause.

Why? Don't conservative politics have an answer to environmental problems that's consistent with their philosophies? It was Reagan who made commissioned the scientists to study the problem of acid rain, and it was Bush Senior who enacted the Clean Air Act. Both of which have been shown to have had significant effects, matching similar experiences in Scandinavia and in the rest of Europe.
We have reduced our C02 footprint to 1990s levels, due largely to natural gas and tax incentives. We need more nuclear, but the left keeps blocking such proposals.

And again, I highly dispute that all of climate science, which is quite an international project was founded by communists. Again, there are almost no communists left.
We are, we have more wind power than any other country beside China:[url]https://www.google.com/imgres?
Though we started more early than you, have more favorable wind conditions and we can export surplus electricity to water damns in Norway and Sweden for storage.

Besides once you add in the mandatory safety buffer between the plant and anything else, you could just tear down the plant and cover the area with photovoltaic cells and a ton of batteries, and it would produce just as much in say Arizona.

There are a lot of sweeping generalities being made here - and they are right wing talking points; they are not really based in reality. The the "totalitarian" aspirations of the left is just the stuff of conspiracy theories, IMO.
In a like vein, the left has its own "anti-right" memes. Continually portraying the right as racist or misogyistic is a good example. I know many people who are right of center, all the way out to the far right. I personally do not know a single person on the right that is racist or misogynistic.
Perhaps leaving these "us vs. them" memes aside so we can actually engage in discussions might be a good thing?Last edited by carpedm9587; 01-01-2018, 09:35 AM.The ultimate weakness of violence is that it is a descending spiral begetting the very thing it seeks to destroy...returning violence for violence multiplies violence, adding deeper darkness to a night already devoid of stars.
