THAT was my point.
And, as I said, I was not not addressing CP specifically.
Edited to add: I guess I found myself sitting quietly on my couch, looking at the tree, thinking about the season, you know - peace on earth - good will towards all - and so forth - and was just struck by the degree and quality of the discord on here, especially now. I guess I let my "Christmas Mood" give me permission to butt in and where I frankly had no business. My apologies. I'll desist and go watch a nice movie. G'night all.Last edited by carpedm9587; 12-23-2017, 08:52 PM.The ultimate weakness of violence is that it is a descending spiral begetting the very thing it seeks to destroy...returning violence for violence multiplies violence, adding deeper darkness to a night already devoid of stars. I heard the bells on Christmas Day
Their old, familiar carols play,
and wild and sweet
The words repeat
Of peace on earth, good-will to men!
And thought how, as the day had come,
The belfries of all Christendom
Had rolled along
The unbroken song
Of peace on earth, good-will to men!
Till ringing, singing on its way,
The world revolved from night to day,
A voice, a chime,
A chant sublime
Of peace on earth, good-will to men!
Then from each black, accursed mouth
The cannon thundered in the South,
And with the sound
The carols drowned
Of peace on earth, good-will to men!
It was as if an earthquake rent
The hearth-stones of a continent,
And made forlorn
The households born
Of peace on earth, good-will to men!
And in despair I bowed my head;
"There is no peace on earth," I said;
"For hate is strong,
And mocks the song
Of peace on earth, good-will to men!"
Then pealed the bells more loud and deep:
"God is not dead, nor doth He sleep;
The Wrong shall fail,
The Right prevail,
With peace on earth, good-will to men."The first to state his case seems right until another comes and cross-examines him.

Meanwhile, a talking head at CNN says, that Trump "could become the most consequential president in the modern era ... Consequential meaning most important and significant, having the biggest overall impact."
Can't believe they let someone on the air tell the truth for a change. Somebody is so totally getting fired for that slip-up.Some may call me foolish, and some may call me odd
But I'd rather be a fool in the eyes of man
Than a fool in the eyes of God

Just a wish...hope....
1) Stop LARPing as moderate who wants to listen and understand. So fake, also obvious!
2) Did you actually '''''listen''''' to, also ''''engage'''' with any pro-Trump people in this thread? People like CP, Pig are not supporters. But that's all right, not actually engaging with The Other Side is good for fake LARPing of yours!!Remember that you are dust and to dust you shall return.

Just because somebody opposes you, Jim, or states a fact or expresses an opinion you don't like doesn't mean they're "whining".[/QUOTE]

The Dems got +15 point swings on mean and median in the special elections and are looking at +19 point swings in 2018 congressional and senate races in current polling of "incumbent republican vs generic democrat". Paul Ryan is talking about resigning himself before he embarrassingly loses his own seat in 2018. It's looking set for a bloodbath in 2018 and 2020 at the moment, and longer term the demographics for Republican voters (older, whiter, evangelical, anti-abortion) aren't helpful. It's possible the Republican party might find a way to save itself, but it might split and get replaced, or it might hang on as a minority party like it did in the 1933 to 1969 period and go another 35 years without really winning a presidency (obviously Eisenhower ran as a Republican but he would have won in either party as people were voting for him not the party)."I hate him passionately", he's "a demonic force" - Tucker Carlson, in private, on Donald Trump
"Every line of serious work that I have written since 1936 has been written, directly or indirectly, against totalitarianism and for democratic socialism" - George Orwell
"[Capitalism] as it exists today is, in my opinion, the real source of evils. I am convinced there is only one way to eliminate these grave evils, namely through the establishment of a socialist economy" - Albert Einstein
