She has no political experience. Her only selling point would be the hope that Barack would be running things in the background. And I think the Dems have moved way more left than Obama was when he was in office, so that could lose them the alt-left loony votes that Biden has been pandering for.

I think they will probably go with Gavin Newsom. He presents well, is well spoken, and has been in the news enough that most people know who he is. I think he would give Trump a run for the money.

Unless they are idiots and put Kamala Harris as the nominee.

I honestly don't know what the Democrats can do at this point. Joe won't step down, or rather his handlers -- or maybe just Jill? -- won't allow it. Joe already has the nomination in the bag, and it will be a tough play to convince the delegates not to vote for him and invoke an open convention. Removing Joe using the 25th Amendment would hurt the Democrat party as a whole, especially after the past four years of trying to gaslight us about Joe's mental fitness. If they bring in a new candidate this late in the game, they would need a veritable rock star of a politician to energize their voters, but they don't have anybody like that in the party.

For all of the Democrat party's usual cunning, I think they genuinely screwed up, and now they're stuck with the worst presidential candidate imaginable.

I agree Biden is bad for lying, and some strange lies at that.

But Trump is orders of magnitude, world record breakingly, worse in quantity of lies. Though usually his lies sound like they could be true.

You've merged every famous lie Biden has ever publicly told in his life together there in your post. But Trump told far more lies than that in the debate alone.

I don't think they'll do that. Joe's handlers are continuing with the program as though the debate never happened, so they would have a fight on their hands - and that might include fighting with Obama. And Biden isn't going to quit.

Actually a slowed down Biden is a far better option than a pathological lying, treasonous, wannabe dictator.
Of course i realize that you are of the opposite perspective.
But one thing that debate taught me is that it is up to us citizens to save our democracy from the the likes of Trump, the lying Autocrat, not up to Biden or anyone else to lead us.
Substantively debates mean very little, other than who might be better at slinging the bull, and Trump we all know is still and always has been very good at that. And obviously the dumbed down citizenry are easily conned so he has the advantage there.
No, not you, I'm sure you understand Trump's game exactly, you just happen to agree with his hate for the U.S. and for American democracy as much as he does, hate it so much in fact that you would even like it if your own state of Texas would secede from the U.S.
But real Americans, good Americans, who still believe in Democracy, who still believe in the Constitution, those who don't defend traitors and coup attempts, are going to have to wake up and realize that you are out there, and that you are many, and that we can only rely on ourselves to stop you. And if we don't, then we don't really deserve the country we are lucky enough to be citizens of anyway.

If they succeed in talking old Joe (or more accurately, "Dr." Jill) into stepping aside, they have a narrow road. FWIU, all the millions old Joe has in his war chest can only go to Kamala at this point. Any other candidate can't touch it.

That is, unless they allow old Joe to be officially nominated at the convention and then have him step aside. That, FWIU, would free up the money to whoever was then picked.

But that is incredibly risky proposition.

That effectively throws the convention open, like it or not. And the radical left, who the Democrats have shielded when they start rioting, will demand to be heard. And by heard, I mean obeyed. To mix my metaphors the Democrats let the genie out of the bottle and now the chickens will come home to roost. And I'm not sure they'd settle for AOC as the VP nominee.
