I really don't know why all these Democrats seem so surprised by Joe's cognitive failure. Maybe they were believing all of the MSM gaslighting?

Previously in debates, the upper drugs given to the candidates have done their job in keeping them going. I've long said Biden has lost it and needs to go, and I still didn't expect him to fail like this.

Denial and willful ignorance, perhaps, or they thought Joe might actually be able to perform just well enough for them to call him the winner, and then they could coast the rest of the way to November by saying Joe already proved himself. But, no, this was so bad, they can't even plausibly gaslight it.

So my earlier prediction that the media would declare Joe the winner no matter what happened turned out to be dead wrong.

The bill did nothing of the sort. It was an empty promise to start enforcing existing immigration law if illegal crossings exceeded an average of 5000 a day for a week, or 8500 in a single day (this is "monstrously, breathtakingly conservative" in your world, is it?). It didn't grant a single new power to the office of the president. Joe always had the authority to close the border any time he wanted, but he did the exact oppostie.

Not to mention that the Border Patrol agents aren't stupid. They know that old Joe could simply rescind some of his Executive Orders cancelling Trump's directives and that would have far more profound effect than anything in that bill would do.

Yeah, I just had CNN on after watching some of the debate.

In general demeanor, it was like they were covering a funeral. They had a clarion message on the bottom reading "Dem. Operative: "It's Hard To Argue That Biden Should Be Our Nominee" immediately followed by one saying "Democratic Party Official on Biden's Performance: 'Nothing Good'."

Yikes.

I guess KJP will tell us tomorrow that what everyone saw last night during the debate was just another "cheap fake." His keepers are already blaming his behavior on a cold.

I will say that one thing truly surprised me, that Tapper and Bash did a commendable job. I got to give them credit.

From what I've seen so far, I have to agree. They asked tough questions of both OMB and old Joe, and didn't make their oft expressed intense dislike of the former obvious.

I think a debate format like this where the moderators refrain from pushing back on false statements from the candidates just plays into the hands of whichever candidate lies more.

I'll grant that the topics asked about by the moderator questions were generally reasonable, even if they were often totally ignored by the candidates who went on their own wild rants without mod pushback. I think the mods were bad for not more often pointing out failures to answer the questions they asked.

Bad Orange Man doesn't need any "new" answers on his political prosecution or the Jan. 6 events, and any "new" position on abortion would hurt more than help.

So far, other than the occasional whatbaboutism deflections about Trump, I've not seen a single democrat actually defending Biden. It will be beyond absurd and a hilarious failure if they try and gaslight the public once again.
