  • This is what fascism looks like

Special Counsel Jack Smith, in a search warrant sent to X, formerly Twitter, requested a vast swathe of information about the account of former President Donald J. Trump, as well as information on the millions of accounts that interacted with it — even those that liked a tweet by Trump in the timeframe of October 2020 to January 2021.

The heavily redacted search warrant requests a list of all users who liked or retweeted posts from Trump between October 2020 and January 2021, including “all associated logs and metadata,” which could cover location data. This extraordinarily expansive request would result in data on millions of American users being turned over to the DOJ.

    [...]

The warrant also requests all IP addresses associated with Trump’s account, and a list of all devices used to log in to it. This means that any staffer or aide who logged into the account would have the information divulged to the special prosecutor.

All information on Trump’s “connect” and “notification” tabs was requested, as well as all search history, blocks, mutes, and even drafted tweets.

Out of all the sham investigations, I feel this is the only one that may at least be semi legit, though that isn't saying much considering the obvious political bias of the investigator and the judge involved.

Accounts that like posts on twitter is publicly viewable information. Least amount of fascism ever.

Of course the Leftists who would normally defend against such a massive fishing expedition and invasion of privacy likely will stay quiet. They have become what they were against.

All that is publicly viewable when you post on X?

Yes, I'm sure Trump is very upset at being investigated for his many attempts at overthrowing the election in order to stay in power. Btw, X didn't object to the warrant, but Musk objected to the non-disclosure segment prohibiting him from revealing the search warrant to Trump. He wanted to alert Trump. It ended up costing him $350,000 in fines. But yeah, warrants for criminal defendents media accounts is nothing new.

This is about more than just President Trump. Why does the Department of Injustice need to know who even so much as "liked" a post by the President, or responded to it? It's the absurdly broad and nonspecific nature of the warrant that should have every one of us concerned.

...it should not come as a great surprise to know the Biden government wants to generate a list of what they would consider subversives to the interests of the state.

Previously, the Obama/Biden administration, through the DOJ, used the IRS to assemble a list of people and entities against their interests. Once that revelation came to light, as a result of a whistleblower, the Obama/Biden administration then began a process of using the NSA database to monitor political opposition. Ultimately, that led to the targeting of candidate Donald Trump in 2016 and the later targeting of President Trump after his inauguration.

The Jack Smith effort is simply a continuation of a very dystopian DOJ effort.

Then when Trump basically says, "Turn about is fair play," suddenly, liberals are terrified of the power of the government.

This is absurd. The investigations into Trump are with cause. The man has earned every bit of the scrutiny he is getting. This is NOT what fascism looks like. This is what the rule of law, and a constitutional Republic look like, where no single man, even the president or former president of the United States, is above the law.

Former Presidebt Trump has broken the law more ways than sideways and now is paying for it - as he should.

If anyone thinks himself to be religious, and yet does not  bridle his tongue but deceives his own heart, this man’s religion is worthless James 1:26

This you know, my beloved brethren. But everyone must be quick to hear, slow to speak and slow to anger; James 1:19

Ox, I try to stay out of your dealings here as you're dogpiled, but what you quoted isn't about Trump. Liking a post by Trump or retweeting a post of his is not a crime. The request is a massive invasion of privacy and infringement on freedom of speech. That you are so blinded not to see this is sad. The same people who decried the PATRIOT Act are giving thunderous applause to the suppression of speech.

In a legal context, a chilling effect is the inhibition or discouragement of the legitimate exercise of natural and legal rights by the threat of legal sanction. A chilling effect may be caused by legal actions such as the passing of a law, the decision of a court, or the threat of a lawsuit; any legal action that would cause people to hesitate to exercise a legitimate right (freedom of speech or otherwise) for fear of legal repercussions. When that fear is brought about by the threat of a libel lawsuit, it is called libel chill. A lawsuit initiated specifically for the purpose of creating a chilling effect may be called a strategic lawsuit against public participation (SLAPP).

He has already shown you that while in office and has been trumpeting that agenda since he's been out of office. Yep. The old "chilling effect". One commenter wondered how long before citizens are dragged before a judicial body and sternly asked, "Do you now, or did you previously, support President Trump?"

And yet it is Joe and the Democrats, and not President Trump, who are abusing the power of the government to punish their political opponents. In fact, when President Trump had the power, he graciously chose not to seek prosecution against his biggest political enemy at the time, Hillary Clinton. The Democrats then returned the favor by subjecting him to endless nothing burger investigations and impeaching him twice for false accusations.
