If Adam and Eve were created out of hominids living at that time, and what they were given were rational souls, and if their offspring mated with those hominids and their offspring in turn, even from such an imperfect union, would still have souls, then there would be no inconsistency.

Incidentally, since most fetuses self-abort by natural processes, God uses his omniscience to see which ones are going to survive and only puts souls into those ones. Same applies to human-caused abortions because God can see them coming so doesn't waste souls on fetuses that aren't going to live.

BTW, D.E. will be along to explain shortly that black people don't have souls and how this is part of God's evolutionary plan to out-breed liberals.
