I don't want to see any violence from anyone. It's absurd. If you kill a person, you destroy not only that life, but all the lives that would have sprung from their own, all the influences they would have had, all the grace that they are forced to forfeit.

I am alarmed at the rise in rhetoric on both sides. It's hard to behave peaceably toward people who you think are evil; Demonizing the 'other' is the first step toward violence, imo.

It's almost like we need a detente in the culture war or something.

The left might smash windows and burn cars, but other than the street gangs, none of them have any actual weapons. So if they do try to start something like a revolution, they will find out that the right can fight back and they will not only be up against SWAT and the National Guard, but an army of rednecks with shotguns and pitchforks

Sure. But let's not forget about the sovereign-staters and militiamen armed to the teeth, opposing federal law enforcement, and taking over public land. Each side has it's wacky element.
