And as soon as that happens, I'll have to take you and LPOT and JPHolding and Flimflamboyant and Apologia Phoenix off my "Dirty Dozen" list. (Anybody out there can remember the names of the others? I stopped praying for them every night years ago. Be advised that I did drop two off the list and replace them with two others, so there are actually fourteen all told.)

Do you want an idiot like that in charge of economic policy?
Yep, thats who I want all right. And if you want to convince others, it would help if you knew what you were talking about first. Bernie Sanders is one of the longest serving senators, and his net worth is estimated to be about $330,507. I believe thats the poorest, definitly one of the least wealthy senators in congress.

        Difficult to be precise, eh?

(reminds me of a Star Trek episode where Kirk asks Spock about their odds of survival in a battle with aliens...

Captain James T. Kirk: What would you say the odds are on our getting out of here?
Mr. Spock: Difficult to be precise, Captain. I should say, approximately 7,824.7 to 1.
Captain James T. Kirk: Difficult to be precise? 7,824 to 1?
        Mr. Spock: 7,824.7 to 1.
Captain James T. Kirk: That's a pretty close approximation.
Mr. Spock: I endeavor to be accurate.
Captain James T. Kirk: You do quite well.)

Forbes just published a list of the wealth of the presidential candidates and estimates Sanders at $700,000 saying that he's been "accumulating very few assets in his lifetime and deriving the bulk of his net worth from his homes in Vermont and Washington, D.C." Apparently he was on unemployment when he ran for Senator.

USA today published a list as well and $330,507 is what they came up with, but even at $700,000 it leaves him at the bottom of the list which contradicts the implication Klaus was making. Not that ones wealth or lack thereof in and of itself has anything to do with it.

Actually he is third from the bottom of the presidential candidates. Rubio and O'Malley are much further back at $100K for the former and $0 for the latter.

According to USA today Rubio's net worth is $800,000 which puts him ahead of Sanders. O'Malley wasn't on the list so I have no idea. But I wouldn't care if Sanders, or any of the other canidates for that matter, was at the top or the bottom of the pack in net worth. Wealth, or lack thereof, in and of itself is no reason to either support or not support a canidate.

So, why did you bring it up in the first place?

That does not count debts. Just like O'Malley makes $600K/yr. but his debts offset them.

How does this contradict what I wrote?

If he can't manage his own finances, how would one expect him to manage the nation's?

That's evident when he wants to hand out trillions more $$ of "candy" when we have a $19 trillion debt.

                              Oy vey!

Sanders has been in the U.S. Senate 8 years with an annual salary of over $100K. And presumably he worked before that.

I started a 403b at age 38 and stopped at age 60. During that period my gross income was between $30K and $59K. I managed to have $500K when I retired. And that was with VERY conservative investments.

[Edited to add: Crazy Bernie earned over $1.4 million in his 8 year tenure in the Senate.]

According to Forbes "Sanders and his wife also have money in retirement accounts and mutual funds, some of which focus on socially responsible investments." It sounds like he wasn't making wise investments but instead concentrated on investments that matched his personal political philosophy.
