  • Obama Tosses Intelligence Community Under the Bus Again

    Source: breitbart.com

Saturday from the White House South Lawn, President Barack Obama blamed "intelligence estimates" for not anticipating the speed in which ISIS would capture large sections of Iraq.

The president, who has been under harsh media criticism for likening ISIS to an Al-Qaeda JV basketball team in January said, "There is no doubt that their advance their movement over the last several of months has been more rapid than the intelligence estimates and I think the the expectation of policy makers both in and outside of Iraq."

The president also made clear no troops would go into Iraq during this operation of humanitarian aid and military airstrikes on ISIS.

I'm only surprised he didn't blame Bush.
The first to state his case seems right until another comes and cross-examines him.

I can see why the intelligence community-- or even just the administration-- would want to believe that the Iraqi military was adequately prepared for a fight. It'd have been a lot harder to withdraw from Iraq if we sincerely believed we were leaving the Iraqi people defenseless.
    Don't call it a comeback. It's a riposte.

I thought he got all his information from watching Tv or listening to the news.

I'm always still in trouble again

I seriously doubt the Intelligence Community helped Obama with the "ISIS is the JV" analysis.

edited because Rogue helped me discover I discomboobleated the quote. I mistakenly said varsity instead of JV.

Didn't he liken them to the Junior Varsity squad ("jayvee")?

You remember the Fast and Furious gun-walking snafu? He read about that in the papers. Same thing with NSA surveillance. And it took him a few days to realize that the Obamacare website was [questionable phrase*] but he finally started to get news reports about it after a few days. And needless to say, he didn't have any idea that the IRS—his IRS—was targeting Tea Party groups until he read about in the papers.

I'm guessing that he still doesn't really know that his Justice Department keeps deporting immigrants and raiding medical marijuana dispensaries in California either. At record rates. Because, you know, he said he wasn't going to pull that Edited by a Moderator. Can somebody slip him a newspaper story about those things so he can finally get cracking?

            I edited the phrase because...
            A) It's questionable
            2) Made ya look!

Hadn't heard about any "junior varsity" comments. Could google it, but it's more fun to ask y'all for a source.

In any case, I think my original point stands.

EGGzackly... left that out by spelling it out instead of using "JV". Thanks! Edited my most accordingly.

(CNN) – In January President Obama told The New Yorker magazine that ISIS, the militant group which has taken control of parts of western and northern Iraq, was like a junior varsity basketball team.

"The analogy we use around here sometimes, and I think is accurate, is if a jayvee team puts on Lakers uniforms that doesn't make them Kobe Bryant," Obama said.

None of what you've said even touches my argument.
