The seven day average of deaths seems to have peaked now, as one would expect given that the seven day average of cases peaked a few weeks ago.

The current 1000 deaths per day divided by 66000 cases per day from a few weeks ago shows that confirmed cases are currently leading to about a 1.5% rate of deaths.

So, the answer is no.

Without vaccines, effective treatments, consistent use of masks and social distancing the COVID-19 is following its natural path in most countries especially the USA with the highest fatalities and case numbers in the world, second is Brazil.

Yes the Pandemic is most likely beginning its brutal grinding decline. This virus does not appear to be temperature sensative virus, and unlikely cyclic. What keeps the coronavirus going is that it slowly moves into less dense population areas. This is a similar problem of previous pandemics. There is an indication that the coronavirus does not mutat as much as flus, but maybe long enough to hang around. There are several options here. 1) It fades away like it cousin coronavirus 2002 SARS. If this is the case the vaccines will not do anything.2) It has found a home and hangs out with humans popping up here and there like the Bubonic Plage, maybe not as virilant and mabe finds one or more animal hosts. If this is the case then vaccines will be important.

The US just counts better. The US has more car accident deaths of people who were later tested to be positive for coronavirus. And many Democrat governors outlawed use of effective treatment of people with covid-19. So maybe you have a good point here.

The number of those who died of the Chicom coronavirus in New York nursing homes appears to be much higher than previously thought:

It looks like the number of those needlessly killed in New York nursing homes by the Chicom coronavirus thanks to Andrew Cuomo's policies may be a lot higher than we previously thought.

I should also note that the WSJ article cited in the OP apparently missed one thing that Cuomo did that exacerbated the situation but that NBC Evening News mentioned in their broadcast from May 10th -- namely that he had also refused to give those facilities personal protective equipment (PPE) after forcing them to take in Chicom coronavirus-positive patients.
