  • Minneapolis City Council unanimously votes to ABOLISH its police department.

Once again, its the Daily Mail, so probably not the best source but I thought it was interesting to start a thread.

The Minneapolis City Council on Friday unanimously passed a resolution to replace the city's police department with a community-led public safety system.
How come I have the feeling that this replacement of the police is going to be an ineffective woke nightmare.

I think this is being dealt with in another thread.

But, hey, this continues to be a hot topic!
The first to state his case seems right until another comes and cross-examines him.

Either a woke nightmare, or they're going to realize what a tough job the police really have, and it's going to turn into a totalitarian nightmare as they desperately try to maintain a semblance of law and order.

I think they're already backing away from this. I think this was a rush for the liberal MOE-rons to show off how woke they are, and reality is hitting them in the face.

Reality and far left liberalism are like oil and water.

Or maybe gasoline and lit matches.

            Let the social experiment begin.

I hope we're pleasantly surprised, but (unless I'm misunderstanding what's going to happen) we probably wont be.

Being that Minneapolis has been ruled by Democrats for years (interestingly like the majority of cities having the most protest and riot activity), maybe the solution is to actually hand over the reigns to Republicans. Baltimore too while we're at it.

If the citizenry is for it and it isn't foisted on them by a small minority of extremists.

For instance, apparently the occupation of capitol hill in Seattle has wide-spread support among the people there (although I don't know if it approaches anything like a majority). If it weren't for those with businesses and jobs in the affected area I'd be all for letting it be[1] and seeing how it plays out. Personally, I think it'll turn out like what happened at most of those areas taken over by the Occupy idiots a few years ago.

In any case whether it utterly collapses or succeeds it will serve as a real example for those enamored with talks of socialist utopias.

ETA: So what was one of the first things these leftists did after claiming dominion over the area that they seized control of?

Yup. They built a wall around it

                  1. Trump would be a fool if he sends in the National Guard or military to clear them out at this point. That is, I strongly suspect, what the organizers are hoping for.

Didn't they just expand from 6 blocks to 7? If I lived in an adjacent block, I'd be very concerned.
