Apparently the guy shooting the video complaining about the EMS not going into the zone was Raz Simone, the same rapper who said, "WE are the police of this community now, WE are the leaders of this community now" and was going around handing out AR15s to people.

It is directly HIS fault that people got shot and that the EMS couldn't get to them because the people kept trying to block the police from securing the zone. He claimed to be the de-facto leader of the zone.

Back in my policing days, we'd call this a "containment issue", not an enforcement one.
I wonder if they're actually paying for city services like electricity, internet, water, trash removal, etc. on the various buildings.

I will always have a soft spot for people who wish to make their own local society. I've told you that. Violence almost seems inevitable in events like it. I denounce violence, yet at the same time I feel I can't blame people who are fed up with society and wish to form their own.

It is not something I would ever advice, it is almost impossible to achieve. If not outright impossible. But there you have it.

Like you I hope the situation resolves peacefully. Part of me undeniable wishes that they would succeed, and overcome the difficulties they face both internally and externally and form a new society, with new politics and new everything.

But the realistic parts of me hopes that the situation collapses in on itself, and eventually the police storms it and it is reasonable cops who don't kill more than absolutely needed.
