A woman in San Antonio, Texas, who had previously tested negative twice for the coronavirus and was released by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, is back in quarantine after a subsequent test came back positive.
Hours before declaring a public health emergency, Mayor Ron Nirenberg called the patient's release a federal "screw-up" during a news conference and is requesting that Americans evacuated from the Diamond Princess cruise ship to San Antonio continue to be held until retesting shows they're negative for the virus.
The patient was out in the community for about 12 hours and visited a hotel near the airport and then, from about 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Saturday, the North Star Mall, where she mostly sat by herself in the food court, said Dr. Anita Kurlan, assistant director with the Metropolitan Health District. The risk of exposure at both locations is deemed low, she said.

Stories in several countries suggest people are having up to six negative results before finally being diagnosed.
As I said (and you ignored because your cognitive dissonance cannot account for it), false negatives are a well known phenomenon associated with this virus. That means the CDC knew of the possibility and released her anyway. There's no way around that. Your fear of that fact is irrelevant, aside from your need to bring it to God in prayer and ask Him to save you from being a coward who prefers comforting lies to the truth.
If being "crazy" means I am factually correct while you throw mud pies at me and whisper to yourself how right you are despite being factually incorrect, then I'm fine with being "crazy".

It's an average of 8,000,000 flu-related illnesses and 6,400 deaths a month. Still far, far below what we've seen so for for COVID-19, at least in the US.

That last paragraph is interesting, because the common belief seems to be that it's more infectious than the ordinary flu, but this doctor from the World Health Organization says otherwise. Some may call me foolish, and some may call me odd

And you're right, MM, the numbers he gave are assuming China gave accurate numbers, which they didn't. The case fatality rate is actually much higher, which is why they burned corpses round the clock and welded people into their homes. Ever hear of a country doing that for the flu?
Mountain Man, I've already returned your rear (apparently), I also have your left arm, and some red-grey rubbery thing, which I think is your spleen. Let me know when you want those back....>>> Witty remark or snarky quote of another poster goes here <<<...

Assumptions and extrapolations based on the little we know are all anyone can do right now. Given the long incubation period, apparent large numbers of asymptomatic cases, and the limits on testing, I don't think we have a real figure on total numbers of people infected, and thus a real figure on the mortality rate. (About 2.0%, current estimates). It's somewhat similar for the flu, since many cases are unreported, but since it's been around and studied for so much longer, we probably have a more accurate estimate of the mortality rate. (About 0.1 %)
Also, mortality rates are going to vary depending on underlying health issues, patient age, availability and quality of treatment, etc. One concern is that a large-scale outbreak could overwhelm treatment resources, and lead to an increased mortality rate.
In short: we don't really know how bad it could be. Pronouncements that 'It's a nothingburger' are just as unfounded as ones that 'We're all gonna die!'.
Take sensible precautions, stay strong spiritually, and be calm....>>> Witty remark or snarky quote of another poster goes here <<<...

Mass media does hyperventilate. What would have likely happened if ebola broke out 40 years earlier? Would it have been contained as handily?
Spanish flu broke out before we had a smorgasboard of antibiotics to choose from, and it caused more deaths than WWI, and likely played a major part in the German surrender. A virus more potent than trenches, machine guns, and artillery? Spanish flu changed the course of history, as did the plagues sweeping Europe in pre-modern Europe.
SARS containment was a public health success, a success made possible because of the modern medicine combined with.... government efficiency!

There have been plenty of serious pandemics in history which have killed people in massive quantities. They don't call it "the black death" for nothing. That killed ~100 million, including roughly half the population of Europe. So the 1918 influenza epidemic killed a similar number of people."I hate him passionately", he's "a demonic force" - Tucker Carlson, in private, on Donald Trump
