Yeah Chris Matthews seems to be past it. He's now done 3 different old-man-yells-at-cloud level rants on air now about Bernie / Socialism that I'm aware of, while other anchors on air with him have stared at him dumbfounded and aghast. His most recent one was about Bernie creating communist death squads to come shoot him. Bernie's article is very badly authored certainly. It seems meant to be a piece where he's looking round the local bookshop and seeing things similar to the recently popular 50 Shades of Grey (which, shall we say, is pretty questionable from a feminist perspective) and being offended by them and the way they depict women, and he's asking the reader if this is really what peak feminism has come to. It avoids falling into the "old Christian prudish man shakes stick at these young-uns up to no good" genre only because it doesn't refrain from lewd language, and he was 30 when he wrote it, and it attacks the current culture (of 1972) from a feminist rather than religious perspective. But it's very badly written and its use of parody is often more confusing than helpful, often leaving it unclear what point Bernie is actually trying to make.
