That has always amazed me - but the Muslims are much better at hiding their actual beliefs. The two hot buttons in the US are, currently, anti-woman and anti-LBGTQ, where Islam has a wretched and horrid history. I can only imagine the backlash if any public official (city council or whatever) opposed a Muslim owned restaurant from opening solely on the beliefs or opinions of the owners.

Same thing has happened in a few schools here where special rooms were established for Muslims to worship^[1] but Christians are forbidden to conduct prayer services. IIRC, I posted a long list of such schools in the pre-crash days.

Report of just that appearing on my facebook feed is what prompted my response earlier. However, when I went to follow it up again ... it has disappeared both from my feed, and from my daughter's page - which is odd, because she had re-posted it. In that report - not only males segregated from females, but menstruating females had their own extra segregated area, and weren't permitted to have any part in the service.

In this case the Muslims are not only allowed to pray but give sermons in school. They are basically holding a church service.

Christians can pray in school but they have to keep it secret. When I did my stint as a teacher in a Junior High, they actually had a room dedicated to Muslim prayer, and encouraged all students to visit it for "cultural" reasons. They even observed Ramadan as an optional school holiday.
