are the same ones who would be blasting a tv evangelist wearing a $3,500 suit to preach the Gospel.

No sir. I believe it's nuttery that she wears a $3,500 suit for a photo op where she's trying to show she's "with the working class". That's been the image she's been foisting on the public.

Now, if she were running on her track record of having built a major corporation from scratch, that'd be way different.

I only have three cars and one home, but I do fly first class occasionally on "air miles" I've earned.

Its not that expensive a suit. Compared to what other politicians are wearing, its practically a standard issue uniform. Ivanka Trump wears things orders of magnitude more expensive than that, switching it out on a regular basis.

              I don't think that's true, Leon.
That's what they (I'll let Fox News be the standard of right wing media) say about Nancy Pelosi and others similar to her age. Meanwhile they glue their lips shut about the fact that Trump and Reagan are the oldest presidents the US has elected.

Only in the regard that she is totally inexperienced and hasn't a clue what socialism is
Eh, you guys believe anything left of Reaganism is Socialism, except when it comes time to make comparisons, and then apparently only Venezuela and Cuba count as socialism. I'll take your statement with a good grain of salt.

              To which you're certainly entitled.

Since when is Ivanka Trump a politician?

I think its a very small issue. I've yet to see any bad habits. And as I said its a standard issue uniform basically. If the campaign bought it because, whatever, that is fine by me. The only one seriously caring about the optics are conservatives.

Never specified anything about you, though. Just saying that I've seen some bad apples. And I'm not talking about Creflo Dollar types either (though at least he's honest about it).

Most preachers I've seen have been good. Back when I was part of a Charismatic group of Christians, I knew the preacher and his wife just lived in a small building next to the Church. And they were very transparent about how the money is spent.

Just saying that those televangelists are a bit more gross than merely walking around in gaudy suits.

Have you watched any of her interviews?

Wait, WUT!?!?!?! A $3,500 outfit is a "standard issue uniform"?

"The Campaign" would be her own donors - and she claims to represent the poor and the working class. To me, that's as bad as a TV evangelist begging for money so he can support his lavish lifestyle, then excusing it "oh, the 'ministry' bought that for me".

The only one seriously caring about the optics are conservatives.
That's why it's hypocrisy, Leon - liberals give her a pass, but if this had been a conservative woman claiming to represent the poor and the working class....

I very rarely watch interviews. I prefer reading them. I read a few of them, they seem fine enough. I do know that some conservatives manufactured fake interviews by cutting answers to other questions together with questions in such a way to make her look borderline incoherent. Facebook more or less forced those places to add 'Satirical' as a disclaimer. But that was after the fact.

Did you know this happened? I wonder if its an interview like that you saw.

A cheap retail suit costs 500$ if it is of decent quality. A high-grade suit costs somewhere in the neighborhood of 1000-4000$ depending on what sort of designer you get. Dresses are even more expensive. I do see a few politicians dressing so poorly that I can imagine their clothings are cheap, yet somehow I think those are likely the most expensive pieces of clothing.

Full disclosure I have no idea. I just did some quick google searches.

Wake me up when she's gotten the third car.

Considering Trump, I don't think you guys can ever again blame anyone on the other side for giving someone a pass, without being called hypocrits. Sorry, that card has been dealt. You'll have to wait a generation or so before you can play that card again. With Trump voted through the primaries, and voted into office, and being voted into office again in a few years (I doubt you'll vote for someone else) you've given liberals a free pass to look the other way on people for a long, long, long time.

                      I know, we're good.

Sometimes, people say something so dumb that, no matter WHAT "editing" was done, it's still dumb.

People in NY don't have cars* - parking spots are way too expensive, and rich people have drivers.

*never been to NYC, so this is an overgeneralization based on... hearsay.

I'll try to find it - it's been a while.

Have you ever watched Tolkien, the guy who wrote Lord of the Rings, talk? He's borderline incoherent, mumbling, going back on things he said, stumbling over words.
He's not running for political office.

                                That's my take at least.
I don't think they would have complained if she were a straight democrat instead of an avowed socialist. The incongruity of a socialist who is against profit (she has stated that) and wants to identify with the working class wearing a suit that only a rich capitalist could afford is what has people pointing fingers at her.

I mean they did make fun of Hillary's clothes but not because they were very expensive, but because they looked like housecoats.
