Also, Kavanaugh is a judge. Wouldn't you think she would have brought this up when he became a judge or started practicing law?

And what about the other guy who was involved? Did she or is she planning to go after him too?

I think she should be ashamed of herself.
There are often compelling reasons why women/girls don't go right to law enforcement/authorities when it comes to rape/assault. However, this smells of a smear campaign. It's pretty irrelevant to me if an accuser waits until a person gains prominence, so long as they can prove the case. This sounds like she's making stuff up.

And the more we learn of her, the more we learn that she's an extreme leftists with an axe to grind - that doesn't help her case. Usually, if what she were saying about K were true, there would be a pattern - at least a couple more women stepping forward and saying (I hate to say it) "ME TOO!"

Well, apparently, her "repressed memory" only got "unrepressed" fairly recently. (six hears ago, and didn't name K)

That fact that she has told several versions of the incident, and the fact that she can't recall key details like where the party was or how she got there certainly makes this suspicious.

Repressed memory syndrome has pretty much been debunked.

In fairness, there are any number of reasons why someone would not report the situation. Heck, #MeToo is filled with accusations of things that happened years if not decades ago.

However, when you look at the situations where someone didn't speak out until much later, they almost all are situations where the perpetrator had some kind of authority over the victim. For example, commonly the victim was either not yet an adult and the perpetrator was, or the perpetrator was the supervisor or boss of the victim. Such situations make it more difficult to report problematic actions and much more likely to result in them being reported much later. Additionally, while there were many inappropriate actions in #MeToo, they generally were minor (well, relative to the accusation made here) and thus more likely to be considered not worth reporting; an inappropriate touch or two can be much more easily disregarded than someone actually physically holding you down, trying to remove your clothing, and covering up your mouth. Given the circumstances--the severity of the alleged crime, and the lack of any "authority" the alleged perpetrator had over the alleged victim--the question of why this wasn't reported is a very valid one. Still, she'll apparently be testifying on the subject next week, so additional information can be offered then.

As to the situation in general, I think this article matches up fairly well with my current thoughts on the subject.

                  • The Intercept is reporting that there are other allegations relevant to Kavanaugh from his workplace. Kavanaugh's mentor, Judge Alex Kozinski, retired/resigned after numerous allegations of sexual misconduct toward law clerks.

It seems Feinstein hid this evidence as well. She's clearly incompetent and it's long past time for her to be gone. Hopefully she loses in November.

I think she realized that there was, as the saying goes, no there there and intended to release it at the last minute as tactic to delay the vote until after the mid-terms -- which is exactly what the Democrats have been pushing for and it looks highly probable that the gambit will work.

AFAICT it seems that Feinstein intended to hide all the evidence and take a "boys will be boys" approach of ignoring it and simply approving Kavanaugh's nomination. The accusation from Professor Ford against Kavanaugh only came out because other democrats blew their tops at Feinstein when they found she was covering up for Kavanaugh, and they got a hold of the letter and leaked it to the press.

Now that they have, other stuff is beginning to come out too... which it now turns out Feinstein and Grassley both knew about and ignored. It also explains why Grassley was so quick off the mark with his "letter from 65 women who knew Kavanaugh"... because several months ago he'd received the letter from an attorney saying half a dozen women who'd worked in the federal judiciary with Kavanaugh had stories to tell about him and his mentor who resigned for sexual harrassment.

If it's indeed true that Feinstein knew about all this and decided to ignore it / cover it up, she really needs to be removed.

You voted for a President who ran a scam university and a fraudulent charity. Your Senator is currently in the news for sending out fraudulent fundraiser mailers disguised as court summons.

Yet despite this... you whinge that Elizabeth Warren is sending out a totally normal, run of the mill, fundraising email, which happens to mention what the political issues of the current week are? Do you have no decency whatsoever?

Oh really. You mean like delaying the appointment of Obama's nomination of Merrick Garland as Supreme Justice when Scalia died. That worked. The precedent for such "gambits" was set by you lot.
