No plan for immediate retaliation against Israel, senior Iranian official says

Iran has no plan for immediate retaliation against Israel, a senior Iranian official told Reuters on Friday, hours after sources said Israel launched an attack on Iranian soil.
“The foreign source of the incident has not been confirmed. We have not received any external attack, and the discussion leans more towards infiltration than attack,” the Iranian official said on condition of anonymity.
According to Reuters, an Iranian analyst also told state TV on Friday that mini drones shot down by air defences in Isfahan were flown by “infiltrators from inside Iran”.
Meanwhile, the Israeli hard right minister Itamar Ben Gvir posted a one word post on X on Friday that roughly translates to “feeble”.

Usually Iran is more than willing to blame Israel for anything and everything so it seems odd how they are almost bending over backwards trying to clear them of these latest attacks.

It's fairly simple: They want to de-escalate, and don't want to respond to the attack. They have to appease factions within their country who would demand they respond to any attack. Therefore their public stance is "what attack? We weren't attacked."

Yeah, that is unusual. Normally they'd blame Israel for a rainy day. Who else would target a nuclear facility?

It probably falls back on Iran's desire to develop a nuke first, before going to war with Israel. This tit-for-tat thing is premature for the mullahs.

I do not think anyone that actually matters is in denial about Israel launching an attack against Iran.

              https://www.theguardian.com/world/20...nes-explosions

US officials have confirmed that Israel has carried out airstrikes against Iran, as explosions were reported in the sky over the cities of Isfahan and Tabriz, while the Iranian government sought to play down the scale of the attack.

As an Iranian official indicated that it had no “immediate” plan for retaliation, calls mounted internationally – including from the European Commission president, Ursula von der Leyen – for Israel and Iran to de-escalate their confrontation.

Initial reports suggested that at least three explosions occurred in the air above the central Iranian city of Isfahan, which holds facilities for the country’s nuclear programme, weapons factories and a major airbase.

Travellers at the city’s airport and elsewhere reported hearing several loud booms, as the air defence batteries opened fire on what were described by officials as “suspicious objects”.

I kind of agree (looks to see if a certain four horsemen have arrived upon the scene), but the question is why are they so eager to deescalate now? That is not what they've done in the past.

They might be at some crucial juncture where interference could result in a long delay in their plans.

So agents inside Iran launched a couple unmanned drones like Mossad did last year, and that's their retaliation? Have I got that right?

If you believe Iran rather the rest of the countries in the region I have some great swamp land in Florida to sell you. Israel's targeted and hit military targets, an airfield With defensive batteries and 2 defensive batteries protecting a nuclear plants using drones from outside of Iran showing they can hit whenever and wherever in Iran they want.

Which, IMHO why Iran backed down on their threat of yesterday(just hours before Israel retaliated).

Someday, please God, let RTT dump a post in a thread of mine that's not begging for ridicule.

I actually do have lots of swamp land in Florida in case you're looking to pick up some to sell yourself. I've got one on the market right now, 1.3 acres on the actual border of the Everglades that I picked up for a song a few years back, most recent offer of $150k, a healthy multiple of what I paid for it back then, up six figures and then some. There's no such thing as land that loses value in Florida. Please do feel free to pick yourself up from that faceplant and dust yourself off, because I've got a bit more shaming to do.

If you believe my post had anything to do with believing Iran, consult a psychiatrist, because that's beyond anything a remedial reading specialist can fix.

Juvenal I apologize and admit I jumped on this before reading the article if I had I would have known you were not talking about news of Iran's fibs to their people about the attack first saying the explosions were their defensive batteries shooting down the drones and now downplaying the drone attack as Being from inside not outside of Iran.

                                NYT paywall.

The most recent word I've seen is that Israel fired a missile from outside of Iran and hit something inside. Details were sketchy.
