By the time Peter went looking for the emails they'd already been stolen.
They were looking for who stole the emails which would not be necessary if Trump and Russia were already working together.

This evidence contradicts the narrative up until this point.
That means the narrative up until this point has been FAKE NEWS.

The claim was that Trump and Russia operatives colluded together so that Russia would release the emails; however, this evidence indicates that the Trump campaign didn't know who took the emails and that Smith was looking for the emails to release on his own.

Smith's testimony contradicts the narrative up until this point.
That is why I label this nonsense FAKE NEWS.

Oh, by the way, why is the interview coming out 8 weeks after it was taken?
I doubt Peter Smith was ever interviewed by the WSJ.
Actually YOU put Trump in the White House. He wouldn't have gotten 1% of the vote if it wasn't for the widespread spiritual and cultural devastation caused by progressive policies. There's no "this country" left with your immigration policies, your "allies" are worthless and even more suicidal than you are and democracy is a sick joke that I hope nobody ever thinks about repeating when the current order collapses. - Darth_Executor striking a conciliatory note in Civics 101

Smith was not looking for the DNC emails, he was soliciting Russian hackers for the emails from Clintons private server that had been deleted - totally separate. He believed the Russians had them and was working with Flynn to get them. This was being done while the intel community was still trying to determine the source of the attacks.

      READ the article next time.

Jim your insane conclusions about Trump are the very definition of cognitive dissonance. You can't reconcile your firmly held belief (and the DNC talking points) that Trump is guilty with the facts that there is no evidence at all, so you ignore the facts and make up your own standards of evidence. And it gets sillier and sillier with every round.
Especially considering how week after week one of those talking points comes crashing to the ground as someone finally comes clean and admits that it was just made up B.S. -- fake news. Case in point, the New York Times acknowledged that oft-repeated claim that seventeen intelligence agencies assessed that Russia hacked the 2016 presidential election was false. Of course they tried hard to quietly sneak it by hoping that nobody noticed -- slipping the correction into a 5 day-old article on their website.

As far as I know the CIA, FBI, NSA, DHLS, and are all in agreement on the Russian attacks in 2016.

Yes, we do. You attempted to create a false dilemma, and you're perturbed that I saw through it. If a man is innocent of beating his wife, then the correct answer to "Have you stopped beating your wife?" is "I have never beaten my wife."

If there is ever any evidence that the President colluded with Russia in a non-criminal fashion then I will happily discuss the question in more depth, but for now, all I can say is it would depend on the nature of the collusion.

No I didn't, I asked you a hypothetical. Do you know what a hypothetical is? I think you do, but you couldn't get yourself to answer it honestly.

But again, you wouldn't recognize evidence if it hit you in the face. You don't analyze evidence, you just deny its existence. And btw MM, no matter the right wing talking points that you have now been taken in by, collusion is a criminal offense.

AFAIK the Russian collusion enquiry is alive and well, based upon the high level of certainty among the US Intelligence agencies that Russia hacked into the 2016 elections. Several investigations are under way into the Russian role in the election. And there is the striking fact that Trump collected a large inner circle of people whose most striking characteristic was anomalously close relations with Moscow. So let's await the final outcome before exonerating Trump and his cohorts.

The latest appears to be that both Michael Flynn and his son were directly collaborating with people in Russia regarding Flynn receiving copies of Hillary's emails that the Russians had hacked. But I think ultimately what they'll get Trump on is money laundering for Russian mobsters through his golf courses and real estate, as that seems to be what ties Trump himself to Russia, and the fact that he surrounded himself with Russian-connected people simply grew out of that.

...and before assuming that he's out of office because he got impeached and convicted.

specifically HIGH crimes and misdemeanors. they are "breaking federal laws" - not just "we dont like the president" which requires evidence and a trial to prove. innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.

But anybody with a brain has to know that it doesn't include "we hate his guts".

FIRST, the House has to start the proceedings, come up with impeachable offenses, have a 'trial, impeach, THEN the Senate can deliberate and decide.

Jim, you REALLY REALLY don't understand the process of impeachment, or law in general.
