Further irony is that as women have to leave work early or stay home their bosses notice and the men who pick up the slack will later be the ones getting the promotion and raises leading women to complain even more about "pay inequity."

It's our opportunity men! Get out there and get that raise! Encourage those women to strike!

So, hmm. NPR did say some of these things, but reading this it just seems to me like a protest against...nothing. I mean, certainly nothing that has happened recently. The immigrant protest, as completely silly as it was, was at least tangentially related to current events. But this seems like a "we just want the day off work" sort of slacktivist protest. They don't seem to be protesting anything in particular that Trump or his administration has done as far as I can tell. I can only assume it's Trump's administration they think they're giving the finger to, because I've never heard of anything like "a day off work to protest" under previous presidents. Certainly not under Obama.

I do find the inclusion of the sentence, "We recognize that trans and gender nonconforming people face heightened levels of discrimination, social oppression and political targeting" interesting, but that subject seems hardly related to a "women's day" protest.

Very strange. I wonder what would happen if there was a "straight, white, male" day off work protest. I imagine it would be condemned as racist though.

2. We all go fishing and drink beer
3. No girlz!
