The likely and worrying answer is yes. I am looking forward to Andrew’s analysis.
Normally permits only are in regard to concealed carry handguns. Not to carrying or owning rifles. Or even openly carrying handguns (in a holster for example). Some states do have permits for owning handguns at all. But usually shotguns and rifles require no permit.

Wisconsin (where this occurred) does not require a permit to own a gun, but does require a permit to conceal carry a handgun. Open carry is legal. https://www.findlaw.com/state/wiscon...trol-laws.html

Based on the fact that one of the prosecutors literally facepalmed after Grosskreutz's testimony, I think it's safe to say they don't have any aces up their sleeves.

I assume Mr. Facepalm skipped the day in lawyering school when they taught that no matter what happens in the courtroom, always act like you were expecting it. One of the worst things a lawyer can do is let the jury know he was caught off guard.

A good lawyer is also supposed to know how one of their witnesses will respond to a question so they don't have to fake it.

In any case, at this point it will be an outrage if Kyle Rittenhouse is just allowed to walk away a free man.

He should walk away both free and rich after suing for malicious prosecution.

I'm always still in trouble again

          • The prosecution's witness admitted under oath that he was only shot after pulling a gun and moving aggressively towards Rittenhouse. So here's how the mainstream media is reporting on this bombshell testimony:

Technically, not fake. They've just spun the headlines.

                • Trying to surrender to him? What baloney. I can't stand this creep.

That's where I'd expect my lawyer to ask Grosskruetz on the stand "You do understand the penalty for perjury, right?" Then ask him again "So you moved toward him while pulling a concealed gun - to surrender to him - when everyone else was simply walking away from him?"

It's a lie of omission. He actually did testify to those things. The media is just leaving out the fact that the defense team forced him to recant and admit that he was threatening Rittenhouse at the time he was shot.

Yeah people always surrender by running toward someone brandishing a gun.

You can watch it happen on the video I posted above. He first tries to attack Rittenhouse, but Rittenhouse got the drop on him and he raises his hands with the gun still in his right hand. Then he suddenly makes a move seeming to trying to shoot Rittenhouse at which time he gets shot.

There is another video from the other side of the street that shows it more clearly, but I can't find that one on youtube.

I did find this documentary that the defense used to show the various parts of the incidents using slo-mo and still images

                      • NBC is trying to turn Grosskreutz into a hero:

                        fake.jpg
                        https://www.nbcnews.com/news/us-news...g-die-rcna4808

The story claims that "His arms were raised shortly before Rittenhouse shot him in the right bicep," which I suppose is technically true, but conspicuously missing from the report is the fact that he admitted that he had lowered his arms and drawn his weapon before Rittenhouse fired.

These lying reports are just going to cause more violent protests when Rittenhouse get exonerated.

The video from the opposite side of the street was copyrighted a few days after the incident. It was on YouTube for a couple of days prior to the copyright and (IIRC) is much clearer than the common video.

I assume once that video is used in trial (again IIRC) it will become available again since public trials are public, including the evidence.

                              That's their goal.

Remember, they had all sorts of views and high ratings covering the riot stuff the prior summer. They want that back - what easier way than to formulate it themselves so it occurs?

Licensed paramedic? Did he present evidence of that, or he just claimed it?
