I wonder if Nancy and the Squad are running things.

With Pelosi I'd expect at least some level of professionalism somewhere.

I'm always still in trouble again

Agree. Among the words you can apply to Pelosi, incompantent isn't one of them.

I don't think Pelosi and the squad is running anything right now. They're too busy trying to get the 3.5 trillion bill through the House.

I think Obama is sending his strong advice to Biden through intermediaries. Or maybe even directly.

This mess looks more like something a bunch of junior staffers would cook up after an all-night drinking session, assuming that Afghanistan would eventually go back into the hands of extremists they figured that if they just let it completely collapse that, thanks to a lap dog media, everyone would blame Trump for the result.

Or ... it looks like the chaos Obama provoked back during his Arab Spring days.

Look what she's got to work with --- maybe she thought Joe was more capable than he is.

She may be drunk more than she's sober (LOT of rumors about that for years including IIRC from former staffers), but she isn't stupid and could clearly see for herself his rapidly increasing state of cognitive decline. Just look at the difference from last year's debate to his faux Town Hall a month ago.

The ineptitude of this screw-up is mindboggling.

I just asked your opinion on that in another thread.

Watching the trend, Biden's approval rating has slipped below 50% for the first time this morning (aggregated polls by fivethirtyeight). He's been losing independents for a while, and it's likely his FUBAR in Afghanistan isn't going to help him. If Pelosi fails to get his agenda through, and bungles the bipartisan infrastructure, it could fall further. This won't bode well for the democrats come the mid-terms.

Edit to add, if your response is to say he's still doing better than Trump, that's not the point and you can take your whataboutism elsewhere.
                              Sinking fast. Now at 41%

This quote from your USA Today article sums up the "low-information" voters out there:

John Plaskowsky, 55, a business manager from Suwannee, Georgia, said the news media's coverage of the tumultuous withdrawal has been unfair to Biden.

"I would say probably for the last 10 years they've been ignoring Afghanistan, then President Biden gets handed a horrible deal from the previous administration," he said in a follow-up interview. While noting that he is a Republican, he said former President Donald Trump played a role by negotiating with the Taliban for a U.S. withdrawal that was supposed to be completed by May 1.

"There needs to be some accountability to the previous administration on the deal they cut," he said.
