Maybe they should not have assumed you understood that having to renounce your allegiance to the country of your birth to become a Citizen precludes Dual Citizenship and thought your post was just someone grasping at straws to try and win the argument. I on the other hand was just reading this thread from the side lines not really planning on being part of the discussion noticed it and due to my experiences knew where the writer of the OP was wrong and just added my 2 cents to what the others had already said.

Hypatia you've done this before trying to fault someone for not making a point they actually did make and it is getting old.

If a locality is stupid enough to allow non-citizens to vote, why should the rest of us have to be impacted by that?

Not the least bit "interesting." Typical stupidity from the NYT

        • Maybe Germany and other countries should allow us USA folk to vote on who we want to run their country? We would be much happier if we could pick which world leaders we wanted to deal with.

That is your opinion. Other Americans may think differently.

I expressed my surprise that an individual who had been posting to this thread for several pages and had informed me on page 5 of their background in law enforcement, participation in naturalization [sic] ceremonies and their degree in criminal justice never noticed [i.e. picked up] what you identified immediately.

I never claimed you did. Are you having trouble following the conversation? I was merely making a parallel suggestion of my own to point out the ridiculousness of the OP's suggestion. Letting foreigners determine a country's laws and policies or even leaders is a dumb idea.

You repeatedly say really stupid things denying doing or saying something we never said you did or wrote.

And I NEVER CLAIMED you had a Nazi bumper sticker!!!

Perhaps because you are the one who is supporting this idea by the very fact that you posted the OP and seem to be arguing it is a good idea. Who are they going to argue with? The article's author? She isn't here. You are.
