In actuality, we've always had variants. Pandemic was never over because it was going on in the background this whole time. It's the MSM and health community fearmongering and hype about a particular strain that changes. IOW, the pandemic doesn't change; it's the hype around it that changes.

I'm confident there will always be pandemic content simply because the originators of it will never let it end.

I was thinking they wouldn't dare start this again solely for political reasons because the jaded masses wouldn't have it, but here in LA, there's a noticeable increase in mask wearing once again, which just shows how the plebs have been trained.

I'm not sure what to make of monkeypox. There was some hype building and then it died down. I imagine it would be tough for them to get liberals to rally around a virus started and spread by gays. I think they're going to stick with covid, at least this fall...

I might have just had it.

Last week, when I was down visiting my brother, I started sneezing and having a runny nose, sore throat and some coughing. I didn't really feel sick and I took a COVID home test and it was negative so I just chalked it off to a cold or allergies (lots of pollen in the air). But I was just talking to my cousin who had just gotten back from Disney World. She said her whole family just had COVID and went on to describe the exact symptoms I had, including sneezing like crazy for the first couple of days and no fever. She said she tested every day for 3 days and it kept showing up negative then on the 4th day it showed up positive. She knew she probably had it because her son and his friend with them had already tested positive. So maybe I did to (I had no contact with her, just going by symptoms). I only tested the one day and when it was negative I assumed I didn't have it.

Sounds like this new version is more like a cold for most people. I had my booster shot a short while ago so that might have helped too.

They're still trying to make monkeypox a thing with East and West coast liberals criticizing Joe and his administration for not doing enough about it.

Democrat officials on the east and west coasts condemned the Biden administration’s failures to distribute the vaccine for preventing the spread of monkeypox in sufficient quantities. In California, officials in San Francisco fear widespread increases in the number of cases while New York City officials report a spike in infections.

California State Senator Scott Wiener (D-San Francisco) released a statement on Wednesday warning local health officials report they would run out of monkeypox vaccine later in the week.

“Today, the San Francisco Department of Public Health announced that the Department is about to run out of monkeypox vaccine,” Senator Wiener said in a written statement. “Its San Francisco General Hospital monkeypox vaccine clinic will be temporarily suspended after today (Wednesday).”

The senator said the exhaustion of the vaccine supply comes as San Francisco and other communities see increases in monkeypox infections and exposures.

“We need to be very clear where the responsibility lies for this completely avoidable situation: the federal government,” Wiener stated. “Failure to control this outbreak will result in intense — and completely unnecessary — misery for many people, particularly gay and bisexual men.”

At the other end of the country, New York City officials report the monkeypox virus is spreading at a rapid pace, Breitbart News reported. Cases in New York City account for a full 30 percent of all cases in the United States — 170 cases during the first two weeks of July.

NYC Health published a chart breaking down the demographics of the monkeypox cases in the city. Men account for 321 of the 336 reported cases (95.5 percent) as of July 13, the report states. The report states that no women contracted the virus during the reporting period. Health officials attributed the remaining to TGNCNB (Transgender and Gender Non-Conforming Non-Binary) (7 cases), and Unknown (8 cases).

Officials attributed 60 percent of the cases (201) to the LGBQ+ community. Another 40 percent were classified as unknown.

Former New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio (D) urged the Biden administration to ramp up access to the monkeypox vaccines. “We cannot wait any longer to take action against the spread of monkeypox,” the former mayor tweeted. “Invoke the Defense Production Act to fill the need for vaccines in the U.S. There really is no time to waste in a crisis like this, and there is so much that federal and city officials can do right now to get control of this crisis.”

“It was another day of meltdown in NYC‘s monkeypox vaccinatation [sic] effort, caused by severe lack of supply and failed scheduling technology,” Manhattan Borough President Mark D. Levine tweeted. He said the city is receiving only 10 percent of the vaccine doses being distributed while experiencing 30 percent of the cases nationwide.

De Blasio, an announced candidate for the state’s 10th Congressional District, called on the Biden administration to “invoke the Defense Production Act to fill the need for vaccines,” The Hill reported. “There really is no time to waste in a crisis like this, and there is so much that federal and city officials can do right now to get control of this crisis,” the former mayor said.

Some say previous infection helps you, some say it doesn't help. Some say boosters help you, some say it doesn't help. I'm seeing and hearing conflicting reports, but that's typical of information about anything related to covid.

                      • Well well well, looking there, natural immunity is better than even 3 shots. I remember various people telling me I was a conspiracy theorists, and others like Hypatia_Alexandria telling me I didn't know science, when I stated that I was just as if not better protected from my bout with covid than if I went and got shots.

                        https://fee.org/articles/natural-imm...e-study-finds/
Natural Immunity Offered More Protection Against Omicron Than 3 Vaccine Doses, New England Journal of Medicine Study Finds

Importantly, the Cornell University-funded study found that both natural immunity and vaccines offer “strong and durable protection” against Covid-related hospitalization and death.

News reports say the Biden administration is currently weighing a plan that would allow all adults to receive a second Covid-19 booster, citing concerns from White House chief medical adviser Dr. Anthony Fauci about the spike in hospitalizations “fueled by the extremely contagious omicron subvariants BA.4 and BA.5.”

Currently second booster shots are only offered to individuals over the age of 50.

Meanwhile, discussion of a potential fifth shot is already underway. During a recent television appearance, CNN host Don Lemon asked CNN medical analyst Jonathan Reiner if such a scenario is likely.
LEMON: "That was my next question, I’m giving away my age because I’ve already had four shots, I've had two boosters, so I'm over 50."

                        REINER: "Me too."

LEMON: "So are we going to get a fifth shot? We're going to have to have a fifth shot?"

                        REINER: "Yeah, probably.

The discussions highlight certain realities of Covid immunization.

“Immunity wanes,” Fauci said during a White House briefing on Tuesday, “whether that’s immunity following infection or immunity following vaccine.”

                        Natural Immunity vs Vaccination

While it’s true that immunization wanes, new scientific research from The New England Journal of Medicine suggests natural immunity lasts longer than immunity acquired from vaccines.

The study, a case–control analysis based on data from Qatar collected from December 23, 2021 through February 21, 2022, involved millions of people, including 1,306,862 who received at least two doses of the Pfizer vaccine (BNT162b2) and 893,671 people who received at least two doses of the Moderna vaccine (mRNA-1273), as well unvaccinated individuals.

The results of the study are a mixed bag for the vaccines.

The best news is that “any form of previous immunity, whether induced by previous infection or vaccination, is associated with strong and durable protection against Covid-19–related hospitalization and death.” (In other words, both vaccines and natural immunity reduce the risk of hospitalization or death from Covid.)

Also good news is that both the Moderna and Pfizer vaccines “enhanced protection among persons who had had a previous infection.”

“The combination of prior, full vaccination and prior infection was maximally protective,” researchers said in a summary of the study’s findings released last month by the Weill Cornell Medicine Newsroom. “Individuals with prior infection and three doses of either mRNA vaccine were, overall, nearly 80 percent protected from symptomatic infection during the omicron wave.”

But the study also found that two doses of vaccines offered “negligible” protection against Omicron infection.

“A key finding was that a history of vaccination with the standard two doses of either the Pfizer or Moderna mRNA vaccine, but no history of prior infection, brought no significant protection against symptomatic omicron infection,” researchers said.

In regards to the Pfizer vaccine, three shots offered considerably more protection. But the protection was still lower than natural immunity, which offered stronger and more sustained protection from infection than vaccination. (Researchers noted that “people with a prior-variant infection were moderately protected from omicron with little decline in protection even a year after their prior infection.”)

                        https://twitter.com/davidzweig/statu...Zbs6ay0Nw&s=19

The findings are not unlike those out of Israel published last year, which found that natural immunity offered more robust protection against the Delta variant than vaccines.

“The natural immune protection that develops after a SARS-CoV-2 infection offers considerably more of a shield against the Delta variant of the pandemic coronavirus than two doses of the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine,” Science reported in August 2021 in a piece exploring the Israel findings.

More than a dozen other studies also found that natural immunity offered powerful protection against Covid, equal to or stronger than vaccination.
