Anarchists???

Recently on Facebook I got into a long dust up with some regional anarchists. They are the most angry, hateful people I think I ever came across on the web. A number of threats, veiled or otherwise, from being doxxed to getting punched in the face. To the hope that I would die soon. I understand why Anarchists are miserable, they are trying to find meaning for their lives in a system that no one wants, but they seem incapable of displaying even the most basic form of civility. Has anyone else dealt with the people, and they seem to be all over the map concerning their beliefs. I guess there are different kinds of anarchy.

Speak to the extreme wings of almost any viewpoint and you'll soon come across the deeply unpleasant nutters.

Anarchism is so illogical in the modern world that I would expect nuttiness from adherents. If they truly want to achieve anarchism they should become hermits and live in the wilderness somewhere.

Yes they are all Antifa too, what did surprise me was the absolute hatred. Not just for the right but for the left - they hate Biden too. I have been reading about Anarchism they last couple of days, and I can't really pin down what they believe, perhaps someone here has some wisdom.

Anarchists are for anarchy. What more can you then expect from probing their belief 'structure' but to find anarchy there as well?

It's been my experience that they are all in favor of anarchy -- unless they are in charge. Most are just wannabe totalitarians

An interesting comment coming from a libertarian, given I would consider libertarianism to be a subset of anarchism, and historically the two terms were often considered identical.

I think most libertarians have a more balanced view. Probably the main thing is that governments are prevented from stealing from the people in order to stuff the politicians' pockets and international corporations with money.

Before the Libertarian Party went off the deep end and became a home for crackpots and loons (which is why I'm a small "l" libertarian) they stood for a less evasive government and were fairly liberal on social policies. Hardly the stuff of anarchists.

I don't know what history you refer to. But in this country, libertarians are mostly constitutionalists, allowing states to run their own shows so long as they don't infringe on civil rights. Pretty simple and nothing like anarchism.

I have an online friend who is "officially" a libertarian, but has said she technically leans toward "anarcho-capitalism."

She is notably civilized and knowledgeable.

To me that sounds like a pan-standard Republican view, standard states-rights conservativism, the confederacy etc.

Why would you see that as "libertarian" rather than pan-standard "conservative"?
