Stats On Police Shootings?

Are there any stats on the percentage of those killed by police by race? And the race of those who kill Cops by percentage?

I actually heard on the radio yesterday a guy who's job it was to collect the stats of those killed by police (rightly or wrongly obviously). Thing is they hadn't started actually collecting this info as standard until last year, prior to that it was voluntary information.

I'll have to look it up before I can say more specifically, however.

According to Heather Mac Donald's research, we just find a lot more crime in black communities. Of course that would draw a lot more policing and more aggressive policing.

Every year, approximately 6,000 blacks are murdered. This is a number greater than white and Hispanic homicide victims combined, even though blacks are only 12 percent of the national population. Blacks of all ages are killed at six times the rate of whites and Hispanics combined.

That black death-by-homicide rate is a function of the black crime rate. The national rate of homicides committed by blacks is eight times that of whites and Hispanics combined. Black males between the ages of 14 and 17 commit homicide at 10 times the rate of white and Hispanic male teens combined.

The police could end all lethal uses of force tomorrow, both justified and unjustified, and it would have at most a trivial effect on the black death rate. According to the FBI, the police kill somewhat more than 400 people a year, one-third of them black. Some estimates put police killings at twice the FBI number, but the proportion of black shooting fatalities remains one-third. That is a rate lower than black crime rates would predict.
Homicide is not the only crime that is vastly racially disproportionate. New York City is representative of other crime spreading across the country. Blacks are 23 percent of New York's population, but they commit 75 percent of all shootings, 70 percent of all robberies, and 66 percent of all violent crime, according to the victims of, and witnesses to, those crimes.

Whites are 33 percent of the city's population, but they commit less than 2 percent of all shootings, 4 percent of all robberies, and 5 percent of all violent crime.

A lot of this is like the plane/car crash debate.

When a plane crashes, it makes BIG headlines, even though FAR more people are killed in car crashes.

If somebody wants to do some research and math (otherwise, I'll do it later) I was wondering about an American black's chances of being killed by a white cop vs. being killed by another black. (In Chicago, that would be a blowout stat)

Yes, it says that percentage wise blacks are more likely to be killed by a cop. But they fail to mention that the crime rate in black communities is much higher, therefore cops are in much more danger, generally, and that they are interacting with that community more, and that there are just more criminals..

Wrt the last statistic, a recent study that a black person living in Chicago has an 1.13 in 1000 chance of being shot. Period. Funny how groups like Black Lives Matter and liberal politicians aren't up in arms (no pun intended) about this. But then they can't blame whites, or the police or give their typical knee jerk reaction of demanding stricter gun control since Chicago already has some of the toughest gun laws in the country.
