I guess it should have been the gun lobby that donated heavily to Obama's admin instead of the big banks.

Obama is the best gun salesman this country has ever seen!

It would be the perfect political scheme if Obama and the Dems were heavily invested in the gun industry. In fact, that would make for a pretty good movie pitch.

This is interesting. Yet another demographic coddled by the administration, but obviously not very well served by them.

Was there anything in particular to cause that big spike and downfall? I'm probably missing something but I can't think of anything around 2013 that would have caused that.

If I'm not mistaken, that's generally attributed to the Newtown, Conn. school shooting in December, 2012, amidst yet another round of calls for stricter gun control.

It seems to happen every time Obama or one of the Dems opens their big mouth about gun control. Being that they're opportunists, it seems to happen in waves, especially after a gun shooting, then they go back into silence waiting for the next mass shooting to aggrandize it once again. Not sure what happened in 2013. I remember the witch Feinstein was harping on about her bill for awhile but I can't remember if that was 2013 or earlier.

Interesting, this may be the beginning of a political realignment...

Some Gay Voters Say It's 'Dangerous' to Come Out for Trump

Following Sunday's mass shooting at an Orlando gay bar, presumptive Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump has voiced - and tweeted - his support for the LGBTQ community. And some in the community have expressed their support for Trump.

"He's the most pro-gay nominee that the party has ever had for president," according to Gregory T. Angelo, president of the Log Cabin Republicans, an organization for LGBTQ people and straight allies who support the GOP.

A number of gay men who have decided to throw their support behind Trump told NBC OUT it has not been an easy road. Juan Hernandez, a gay and Latino member of the Log Cabin Republicans, said his support led to physical violence by anti-Trump protesters at a rally in San Jose. Images of the attack and his bloodied clothes went viral.

"This is politics. Debate is OK," Hernandez said. "When you start getting violent and throwing out derogatory terms, that's not OK."

If the GOP wants to start supporting gay people, I'm sure such a move will be welcomed.

But I saw this today on facebook, having been written by a gay person:

The GOP has a lot of yard-work to do if it seriously wants to attract LGBT voters. Gay people aren't ignorant of the level of discrimination that has been perpetrated against them through law by conservatives.

This will revolve around one thing - security/safety.

Oddly enough, Donald Trump defended the Gays from the Clintons in 1999 / 2000

Why should gays and lesbians be interested in you as a presidential candidate?Would we see gay people in a Trump administration?
What would you do to combat antigay prejudice?

The democrats have, in general, always been more pro-gay than the GOP. But the Clintons themselves have one of the worst records on gay rights of any modern politicians. So back when Trump was a democrat, he was unsurprisingly more liberal on the subject than the Clintons.

Since then, Trump's obviously changed to the Republican party, and the Clintons have seen the light and have disavowed their previous positions and endorsed pro-gay ones in 2013. Trump repeatedly stated his support for traditional marriage during 2015, and the shortlist of justices he would consider appointing to the supreme court that he released were all ultra-conservatives who would do their best to overturn same-sex marriage.
