I like how some people are finding any possible way to link this back to Christianity.

Religious extremism against LGBT folks is nothing to do with most Christian denominations and churches, only the extremist ones.

Equally, religious extremism should not be connected to all Muslims, which it does look as if you are attempting, imo. I know quite a few moderate Muslims.....

The Western World is going to get fed up with all extremism, I reckon.

I know of no liberal who says radical Islam isn't a serious problem. Even Obama, whom you seemingly endlessly belittle, has repeatedly acknowledged that it is, and that radical groups must be stopped. But I do agree with the message that we should keep our senses and not irrationally attack the many good, innocent Muslims by essentially assuming that they're radical.

I was primarily referring to the Not In My Name movement and the Letter to Baghdadi, both of which strongly condemn terrorism. I have enough evidence that those Muslims, and the Muslims I've known personally and online, are basically good at heart.

One thing you need to remember: Muslims are obligated by their religion to lie to Infidels. It's why they'll "apologize" for a terrorist attack in public while preaching hate and murder inside the walls of the local mosque.

Same thing happened with the Boston bombing suspects. Because it was revealed by a relative, they at first denied they had any contact with Tamerlan, but then had to admit it was true. Your explanation doesn't make sense to me though. Why would racial sensitivity impede such investigations when the public isn't even aware of these investigations until after the fact?

Why would they if the public doesn't know the investigations are occurring? I'm not sure about the Boston Bombing case, but in this case, it looks more like incompetence (also considering all the counter terrorism measures that were in place post-911) than any apprehension on their part about PC.

...and now it's a little closer to home, it appears. One of my fellow church members says a friend of her was shot there. I may see her this morning so I'll see if she knows more about her/his condition.

Sunni or Shi'ite? Most Moslems do not want anything to do with hate crimes, terrorism or homophobia. They are mostly good, working family people around here. (UK)

Yup, and let's be clear that that's how a lot of young people in the Western world do interpret events like this.

And the response from conservative Christians is that more nuance is needed than that, and that this is "specifically Muslims".

But when liberals suggest that it's only radical fundamentalist Muslims, and that most Muslims are fine, the conservatives Christians try to have it both ways, and say less nuance is needed, and that we shouldn't just blame a tiny minority of Muslims, we should spread the blame out to all Muslims.

They want to have a very conveniently chosen level of nuance such that they blame as wide a possible a group without spreading the blame quite as far as themselves.

Already the few Christians that are homophobic extremists are pointing with shaking fingers at all Muslims, shouting, 'It's them! All them! Over there! Not here!'.
