Water is also a main issue here in California. Mainly, SoCal uses water from No Cal as well as the Colorado River. No Cal gripes about this especially during droughts such as the one we're having now.

Ah, they just need to wait until the Big One hits and everything east of the San Andreas slides off into the Atlantic.

And as CP has often noted, Austin Texas is very different from the rest of Texas. Perhaps we should go from 50 states (or as some think, 57) to a hundred or more.
Didn't Obama visit 57 states already, with 1 left to go?

Ah, I see what you did there.

              Thoughts?
There has been talks about splitting Cali since before I was born and it hasn't moved beyond mere talks and I doubt it will ever happen.

It is, the two tend to argue with one another all the time, but I really doubt it would ever happen. The only case of a state splitting was in the case of West Virgina splitting from Virgina and that was due to the civil war. Short of that, I doubt Cali will ever break up into smaller states.

And again, that was almost 2 centuries ago and we were dealing with kind of a backwater place at that. Cali has millions of people and is highly developed. I doubt it would ever happen. There is just too much vested in keeping the state together.

Civil Wars are where different sides are fighting for control of the government which was not the case here.

You cited "only case." I assumed Maine from Massachusetts was an oversight.
