Apologetics 301 Guidelines

If you think this is the area where you tell everyone you are sorry for eating their lunch out of the fridge, it probably isn't the place for you

This forum is open discussion between atheists and all theists to defend and debate their views on religion or non-religion. Please respect that this is a Christian-owned forum and refrain from gratuitous blasphemy. VERY wide leeway is given in range of expression and allowable behavior as compared to other areas of the forum, and moderation is not overly involved unless necessary. Please keep this in mind. Atheists who wish to interact with theists in a way that does not seek to undermine theistic faith may participate in the World Religions Department. Non-debate question and answers and mild and less confrontational discussions can take place in General Theistics.

For someone whose idea of washing is wiping all over with a moist towelette you sure do know a lot about soap.

My daughter had a 4H project, and she skooled me on it.

You sure we're talking about love here? Those people had genuine psychological issues.

There is no parallel with Samson. The divulging of the secret is a plot point to move the story forward. You can't chop off a man's braids without waking him; it's not like he was drunk.

If viewed as history, it makes God look out of character for appointing such a boasting moron to high office. He brags about killing a thousand men, fer criminy. As myth it makes sense. As history, not so much.

When I get tired of nagging, I leave the house. Also, when I'm nagged, I don't feel particularly "in love."

Seriously? Paul, Moses, Jonah, and Jacob could all be considered "higher" in their "office", yet each one did things just as bad, and or stupid as Samson. I don't think you understand God's character much at all.

1 Corinthians 1:26-28New International Version (NIV)

26 Brothers and sisters, think of what you were when you were called. Not many of you were wise by human standards; not many were influential; not many were of noble birth. 27 But God chose the foolish things of the world to shame the wise; God chose the weak things of the world to shame the strong. 28 God chose the lowly things of this world and the despised things—and the things that are not—to nullify the things that are,

                Fits perfectly with this IMO.

I wouldn't call THAT love. But, yeah.

I wouldn't call it love, either. It's more sickness.

Problem is that the bible says Samson is in love. With a hussy who wants him dead.

It does strike me as strange that of all biblical narratives, this one in particular stands out as implausible.

I think he's going through them one by one, so he can find reasons to dismiss them. Like he did with David and Goliath previously.

I'm reminded of a number of modern day political scandals where politicians flush very promising careers down the drain. Eliot Spitzer had everything going for him politically; who knows how far he might have gone had he not involved himself with prostitutes?

Call me crazy, but I do see hope for him. He's focusing on the ultimate questions of what matters, and looking in the right place too.
