Those who witness Christ's second coming will probably not taste death, and I think it's arguable that it was ever God's intention that any person made in his image die. In that way (and again this is debatable) it isn't so much that God literally takes life, but that the sin present in this world naturally corrupts. It seems God abhors sin and will not be in its presence, and where there are none righteous, or where few faithful are found, God's providence and hand of protection is lifted which gives opportunity to the adversary to steal, kill, and destroy. Or at least, that's one way of seeing things.

That's actually not why we die. Animals and plants die, and it's ludicrous to suggest sin caused that. Ditto stars.
