Moo is describing the difficulties in translating a Greek word with an indeterminate gender that has no counterpart in English. His example is the word 'anthropos' as used in Mark 8:36 - where the word is clearly not referring to men specifically but to people in general. I don't see this as a feminist ploy at all (although some conservative circles have made a political circus to make it seem as though it is) - but rather scholars trying to accurately convey the meaning of the original text into the modern vernacular as clearly as possible.
