I came across this blog article. This is definitely not a Christian source; it's a gay rights blogger. He hits on something important, though: churches that water down the gospel by denying the sinfulness of homosexuality don't seem to be bringing in scores of new gay church members... or in some cases, any. His reasons why aren't particularly important here, though here's the post: https://bookishbearblog.com/2018/06/...lusive-church/

"LGBTQ+ inclusive" churches don't seem to be reaching their goal
"I am not angered that the Moral Majority boys campaign against abortion. I am angry when the same men who say, "Save OUR children" bellow "Build more and bigger bombers." That's right! Blast the children in other nations into eternity, or limbless misery as they lay crippled from "OUR" bombers! This does not jell." - Leonard RavenhillTags: None

Where I grew up, the church did get lumped in with some of the worse stereotypes of gay bashing because we were so close to Westboro Baptist Church and they would frequently show up in the county. I don't know how the dynamic would have been in other areas. I did sense that some Christians were disgusted by Westboro and swung too far in the other direction."I am not angered that the Moral Majority boys campaign against abortion. The gospel isn't quite "repent for the forgiveness of sins and then go to our church meetings."
I grew to understand that our job is to go "out there" and win people to Christ, then "bring them home to the family" at Church. The first to state his case seems right until another comes and cross-examines him.

HE will grow His church. Not me. I am just to present the gospel of Christ.

As I'm sure you already know, moss, after they have accepted Christ, all that other stuff was no longer important.

Most of those times those questions are probably smokescreens. There are exceptions but I think you can usually tell when somebody is sincere. Probably not when it's about something off the wall like that"I am not angered that the Moral Majority boys campaign against abortion. Paul Little tells the story of speaking at a university where a young man came up to him after his apologetics presentation, and told him, "You have successfully answered every objection I have had to Christianity".
Little asked, "then you're ready to give your life to Christ?"
The young man said no, and Little asked, "well, if I answered every objection, why won't you accept Christ as your Savior?"
The answer "because it would mess up the way I'm living".The first to state his case seems right until another comes and cross-examines him.
