My sight reading in high school, college was non-existent - I could never do it. Today, I sight read part of a piece while the instructor played the duet part. I flubbed on the high D - but still, I've NEVER been able to sight read that well before!'
Also, I had pulled out my soprano from my bag last week and the instructor saw it. he hadn't realized everyone had one - so we're now adding a few minutes of soprano to the class. I practiced for the first time in months over the week end and it was incredible how quickly it came back to me!
In the 'only thing that seems to be going right' category, I'm actually doing pretty good at this. I am 9 days away from having enough Bing points for my tenor.
So, last Thursday, I got a surprise - my instructor loaned me his tenor out of the blue!
I LOVE the sound!
Now, I just have to get used to the size - figuring about three weeks before my hands stop hurting. I need both thumbs - but I don't have a fully working base joint - never have. The result is that some repetitive hand actions are painful for me initially. Things like writing (which was the worst), drawing and now recorder playing are painful until my hands figure out how to compensate or just get used to it.
I got the last of my Bing points today - waiting on the new card and I get to order my own tenor!!!!
What? If I gave up just because it hurts I'd never do anything.
1Cor 15:34 Come to your senses as you ought and stop sinning; for I say to your shame, there are some who know not God.

So, I checked Biblio for some books I wanted - planning to put them on my wish list. Anyway, I had some promotional credits so I got to order two books as well!!!
