I drove past a Planned Parenthood today and usually, the most they have in the way of protesters is Catholic women who stand and pray. But today, there was someone different, a weird-looking guy wearing a Straight Outta Compton themed novelty T-shirt holding a sign saying "don't be fetus-phobic". That got me thinking. I don't see how that phrase would actually change anybody's mind; it's frankly just as stupid as when people say "gay people are heterophobic", and it's meaningless. But maybe his actual goal was to appear so weird that people would be scared to enter the parking lot to get an abortion (and the clinic had about ten people there ready to escort people into the clinic; they normally don't have those people when you just have the people praying the rosary. I'm not sure if he was yelling at people going in or anything of that nature. I know it's a stereotype that protesters yell things like "whore", but I don't know if that's actually true in any cases).
Is protesting at clinics effective? What messages or presentation (i.e. clothing) works best?
