What are the chances that the people you associate with are just like you?

There's certainly a strong bias toward me talking to people who are both well-educated and well-informed about the world. I'm not sure though that if I were to talk to some people who weren't well-informed to the point where they hadn't heard anything about the US situation, that they would be able to meaningfully contribute an opinion on a subject they knew nothing about? At that point they would be dependent on me having to explain the situation to them before I could elicit their opinion, which you'd presumably discount as biased by my explanation.

I never heard of any such law, but if that is the case, then yes, it should be changed, via legislature, the same way that law got to be law. Then they can take down any statues they decide needs to come down, legally and peacefully.

This rioting and destruction needs to stop.

Sounds like this is a unique case to that particular statue, judging by the last line.

Obviously I agree with anything I agree with.

I don't support the rioting and destruction, and I agree that this law should be done away with. It prevents the cities from taking appropriate course of action, or even to consider whether they want to host these statues. However since the law is there, and since getting it changed is very difficult, there might not be much we can do to prevent this statue from being lost to rioters. It'd be a waste of resource to put armed guards there day and night. So at some point I fear there'll be a scandal that'll cause some rioters to take out their frustrations on it.
