An interesting comparison between COVAG=19 and H1N1 2008-9.
H1N1 viruses: Coronavirus: How H1N1 cases and deaths compare to Covid-19
Unlike the coronavirus, the disease was more deadly for younger demographics. It was estimated that 80 percent of H1N1 victims worldwide were younger than 65 years of age. By far almost all infected were not asymptomatic of mild symptoms. It is likely to have a lower fatality rate due to the fate that it infects more younger people, but because of the lack of data for COVAG-19 this is inconclusive.
COVAG-19:In contrast by far the majority of the infected with serious illness and fatalities were over 65, and the proportion of the fatalities and severe cases in the different Western countries was proportional to the elderly population. The mild infections and asymptomatic cases of COVAG-19 were likely 80%+. What this means if isolation unless it is extreme isolation of the vulnerable and elderly will have limited success.
As far as the infection rate and fatality rate frequency I will reserve comparison, because of the uncertainty of the figures for COVAG-18 due large numbers of a symptomate and mild response to infection. More intensive testing needs to be needed.Last edited by shunyadragon; 04-17-2020, 07:23 PM.

Good question. Trump does not deserve my toleration. When a person acts immorally, I call it out. When they act appropriately, I call it out. When Obama misled the public about keeping their doctors, I called it out. When Obama showed a weak hand in foreign decisions, I called it out. When Trump acts in a way that is immoral - I don't "tolerate" it - I call it out. That's what people of good character generally do: point out harmful and inappropriate action. They don't sweep it under the rug in the name of "tolerance." When he acts appropriately - I call that out too. Unfortunately, where Obama was 95% appropriate and 5% unacceptable, Trump is 95% unacceptable and 5% appropriate. Bush II was closer to 50/50. Reagan was 75/25. Bush I was also 75/25. Clinton was 75/25. I don't know of a single president who has ever been 100/0 or 0/100, despite your caricature.Last edited by carpedm9587; 04-17-2020, 07:25 PM.The ultimate weakness of violence is that it is a descending spiral begetting the very thing it seeks to destroy...returning violence for violence multiplies violence, adding deeper darkness to a night already devoid of stars. The "no" part is right. But the "because" part is way, way off. You don't succeed, Pix, because you (ironically) wave away anything you can't answer with "gaslighting" or "TDS" or "handwaving" or simply resort to personal attacks and name calling. Your ability to actually engage in a reasoned argument with points related to the actual discussion is, AFAICT, highly limited. I don't think you're stupid by any means - but I truly do not understand your need to descend to the lowest point in any conversation. If you could stay on topic and actually respond to the points made rather than waste all of your time on personal attacks and mind reading, you might actually have a shot of convincing. Until then...

More gaslighting.
Wow - if THATmost evil person alive" (false - I never said that or implied it)
"you really do see Trump in the worse possible light" (false - I see/assess Trump by the same light I see and assess anyone else, and by the same metrics).
"the assumption that he is pure evil and must be stopped" (false - no one is "pure evil")
These are all superlatives, Pix. "Pure evil" means "100% evil."
As for the rest, I'll leave it to you. Most of what you've said about me is simply flat out wrong, but you seem to be mostly focused on the caricature you've created in your mind, and nothing appears to free you from it. Given that reality, I think I'll bow out. It makes no sense to continue to converse with someone who has already decided who/what I am and how I think/feel. You should have that conversation with the caricature.
If/when you actually respond to me, I'll be happy to respond back. But continually discussing with someone who isn't actually listening is, as you say, pointless. Until you begin to listen... be well.Last edited by carpedm9587; 04-17-2020, 08:32 PM.The ultimate weakness of violence is that it is a descending spiral begetting the very thing it seeks to destroy...returning violence for violence multiplies violence, adding deeper darkness to a night already devoid of stars. Bit of a frustratingly slow tail-off, but it's getting there. We were finally single-digits for new cases nationally yesterday. Both countries have pursued pretty vigorous lockdown policies over the last month and those seem to have been very successful.Last edited by Starlight; 04-18-2020, 06:17 AM."I hate him passionately", he's "a demonic force" - Tucker Carlson, in private, on Donald Trump

Those actions, coupled with our excellent and sufficient testing capabilities are a model you could follow. I will make the altruistic offer of sending you Donald Trump to oversee the public health crisis.
On a serious note, I read a headline question re-infection. (probably a testing anomaly). I doubt it because by now there would have been reports of people becoming ill again.
